They gotta catch up with China. The U.S. is close to breaking a regulation they've been following for 100 years

China present has the world's largest fleet of war in terms of the number of ships, which is why the US is trying to boost the pace of expansion of its own naval forces. The problem is that American shipyards are incapable to build fresh units fast enough. Therefore, the White home and the Navy are considering the first ships of the fresh frigate class to be formed in Japan, South Korea or Turkey. This would be a departure from more than a century of practice to build American warships exclusively in the country.
