Deputy Minister of National Education Joanna Mucha announced that a school work for Ukrainian children residing in Poland would be introduced from the fresh school year. The regulation will apply about 50-60,000 students.

At a press conference, the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Education stressed that the issue of school work for children of Ukrainian Polish residents was discussed with Ukrainian authorities.

“The ministers who met with us are very curious in introducing this work in Poland. They offer... cooperation. I'm certain we'll take that offer. Most of this plan is ready. We are waiting (...) for the provisions of the bill (...)," said Mucha.

The Deputy Head of the Ministry stressed that the Ministry is convinced that the number of children residing in Poland but not attending schools in the Polish educational strategy is smaller than previously estimated.

“This figure is closer to 50,000 to 60,000 than those large numbers that gave NGOs. Ukrainians have their statistics, I think they are rather accurate and reliable," said Vice-Chief MEN.

As previously reported, Joanna Mucha, Deputy Minister of Education, expressed the desire for Polish schools to be friendly to immigrants, not only from Ukraine. She stressed that more children from different nationalities, including Vietnamese, Hindu and other, were expected to appear in the Polish education strategy in the future.

She admitted that it is highly hard to establish the exact number of Ukrainian children residing in Poland and utilizing the Polish education system. It is estimated that between 50,000 and 100,000 children are presently outside the educational strategy in Poland, most of which benefit mainly from online learning in Ukrainian, and somewhat more attend Polish schools. The fly pointed out that the available statistics, including those relating to social benefits collected by Ukrainians, disagree from each other.
