Belarus continues to grow
The Ministry of abroad Affairs explains the request to introduce restrictions with increased migration force on the Polish-Belarusian border in the second 4th of 2024. Since mid-2020, organised groups of foreigners from high-risk countries have been trying to cross this border. The force created by the Belarusian authorities as part of hybrid activities aims to destabilise Poland and another EU countries.
According to the project's explanatory memorandum, it is supported by Belarusian services that organise transport of migrants and equip them with tools to cross the border. Migrants frequently behave aggressively, attacking Polish patrols and utilizing dangerous tools. Large groups effort to forcely cross the border without responding to calls or means of coercion.
The Ministry besides recalls that the Belarusian services actively participate in attacks on Polish soldiers, police officers and border guards who defend the state border. There have besides been many cases of direct attacks by Belarusian services, specified as firearms targeting, stone throwing, laser blinding and strong stroboscope light, making it hard to prevent illegal border crossings by migrants.
These activities, according to the Ministry, pose a direct threat to the life and wellness of Polish officers and soldiers. In addition, Belarusian officers keep a constant eye on the activities of Polish services, frequently distracting them from the places of migration.
