Moscowtimes.ru: peculiar Services will control technological organizations

The Russian Parliament passed a bill that introduces partial supervision of peculiar services over the activities of technological organizations.

The national safety Service (FSB) will oversee the cooperation of scientists with abroad institutions. This is to prevent leaks of "the results of technological work abroad". This is how the Russians want to defend themselves from intercepting their technological secrets.

The exact list of controlled areas will be drawn up by the government. For the majority of institutions, the Act will apply from 1 September.

The technological community has taken this initiative rather skeptically. There are concerns that the provisions of the Act are so vague that it will become a reason for increased repression.

This will besides affect abroad relations. Many scientists will gotta give them up in order not to exposure themselves to persecution.
