Former Prime Minister and president of Russia Dmitri Medvedev stated that Western countries' policies could lead to a global conflict. According to him, "geopolitical opponents" are trying to lead to isolation of the Russian state.
He recalled that the clues on the alleged doom clock had never been so close to a critical point.
Medvedev warned the western allies of Ukraine not to send his soldiers to this country. He stated that they would become a “legal” mark for the Russian army.
His threats were issued by the erstwhile president the day after the telephone conversation between the Presidents of the United States and Russia. On 19 May, Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin spoke for about 2 hours. This conversation did not lead to any breakthrough in the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. The US leader did not mention the anticipation of introducing further anti-Russian sanctions if The Kremlin won't be curious in a truce.
Moreover, in a later conversation between Trump and the president of Ukraine, Volodymir Zelenski and representatives of any European countries, it was stated that Russia and Ukraine would gotta find a way out of the crisis themselves. Nor did the president of the United States mention to his earlier words about joining another anti-Russian sanctions which the European Union announced on 20 May.
