More than 20 percent of the EU population is at hazard of poverty, according to data published on Wednesday by Eurostat's European Statistical Office.
"In 2024 93.3 million people in the European Union (21% of the population) were at hazard of poorness or social exclusion", Eurostat said.
According to Eurostat data, they had at least 1 of 3 signs of poorness and social exclusion in their households. These are income problems, material or social deprivation, and low employment.
Bulgaria, Romania, Greece, Spain and Lithuania have been listed among the countries most susceptible to poorness problems.
