The Minister of Justice Waldemar Żurek referred to the veto by president Karol Nawrocki of the bill on the protection of minors, besides called "Lex Kamilek" – from the tragically deceased Kamilka of Częstochowa. Although the President's decision was in accordance with the opinion of the Ombudsman for the Rights of the Child, Żurek estimated that the veto "will make life hard for all of us."

On Friday, August 29, president Karol Nawrocki decided not to sign the amendment to the Law on the Protection of Minors – the alleged "Lex Kamilek". "As far as the second law is concerned, the bill is commonly called lex Kamilek. She was proposed by a government majority, parliamentary as an component of deregulation. There is no agreement here to be signed by the president for many reasons. These reasons were besides pointed out by the Ombudsman of Children's Rights, and I will remind you of the chosen votes of this parliamentary majority," explained KPRP chief Zbigniew Bogucki.

"Under the proposed legal regulations, in practice there may be a situation where children can be contacted by persons convicted, among others, of murder, trafficking in human beings, criminal threats, kid abduction, drug trafficking or sexual exploitation of children" – warned the RPD Monika Horna-Cieślak earlier.

Minister of Justice comments on President's veto on "Lex Kamilek"

On Friday afternoon Waldemar Żurek referred to the veto "Lex Kamilek".

"I regret to welcome the president's next veto, and I fear it will be the President's kind of work," said the Minister of Justice.

“I would truly like this bill to be adopted due to the fact that I have seen immense queues in courts, I have seen quite a few people who are just wasting time. The strategy wasn't prepared for this bill due to the fact that it couldn't be. So if you adopt a bill, you gotta prepare the strategy in parallel, and unfortunately our predecessors did not. Here it was the easiest for the president to make another veto, but it will truly make life hard for all of us, and it will not improve the protection of children in any way," said Żurek.

He pointed out that "there are besides provisions in this bill that the president considered to be good, but there is no alternate veto that could lead to the adoption of any rules, and others would be veto."
