After last week's meeting, the Parliamentary Committee on Culture and Means of Transmission assessed the proposal of the Law and Justice. As a result, on Wednesday the full Sejm decided to reject the motion to express a vote of distrust towards Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz. On the contrary, 241 Members voted against and 2 abstained. As a result, Sienkiewicz remained in his position.
He was supported by 177 PiS MPs, 14 Confederate Members (with 2 abstainers – Bronisław Foltyn and Grzegorz Placzek), and 3 Kukiz Members’15. On the contrary, 152 Members of the KO, 32 Members of Poland 2050-TD, 31 Members of the PSL-TD, and 26 Members of the Left spoke out.
In December, Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz dismissed the directors of Polish Television, Polish Radio and Polish Press Agency, as well as the supervisory board of these companies. Then, after president Andrzej Duda vetoed the budget bill, which provided for PLN 3 billion in public media subsidies in 2024, Sienkiewicz decided to put these companies in liquidation.
And that's concrete! TVPiS is no longer present, and the Minister of Culture is Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz.
