A fake car.
On Thursday morning, the Minister of Digitization Krzysztof Gawkowski published an online entry in which he described the communicative that happened to him. Gawkowski reported that on Wednesday he learned that the car which he legally bought for PLN 100 1000 had its “twin” in France, and he was sold a counterfeit version of the car in Poland.
He pointed out that as a result, the car was occupied by the police and the prosecution, and he and his wife lost PLN 100,000. The Deputy Prime Minister presented the past of the acquisition of the vehicle, explaining that in October 2023 they bought a Peugeot 5008 from a private person. Gawkowski added that before the acquisition they checked the vehicle after the VIN number and went to check for authorized service of the Peugeot.

The Minister of Digitalism noted that the police and prosecutors' actions were professional and there was no objection to their work. However, he expressed surprise as to why the authorized service did not pay attention to the fact that in another country, which is parent to the brand, a car with an identical VIN number moves.
The announcement of legal action
Krzysztof Gawkowski stressed that specified a situation could happen to anyone, but it touched him. He announced that he would publicize the case and would not step down by planning legal action and claims. Although he expected a long-term process, he pointed out that citizens should be able to check whether a vehicle with the same VIN number they want to get is driving somewhere in the European Union.
He added that he was pursuing changes in regulations. At the same time, he pointed out that his household had been harmed, but hopes that the state services would act rapidly and effectively in the detection of criminals who would endure a fair punishment.
Gawkowski told RMF FM reporter that he intended to apply for victim status. He received a message yesterday about a nationwide investigation conducted by the service. As it turned out, many people were injured by the activities of this organized group. Gawkowski stressed that for many people this situation is very painful due to the fact that it concerns the achievements of the full life.

Some have besides noted that the Deputy Prime Minister was curious in the substance and expressed his desire to change the rules only erstwhile he himself felt the consequences of systemic shortcomings on his own. It was pointed out that Gawkowski's fight is mainly about the recovery of the vehicle, while legal changes are somewhat lower in this hierarchy.
A user with a nickname Dr. Marty has maliciously commented that contrary to what Gawkowski wrote, this situation did not necessarily gotta happen to everyone. This is due to the fact that a vast number of citizens can afford a car for 100 000.
This could be much simpler than Gawkowski's proposal – to pass a law transferring work for the resulting harm to the service issuing the verdict on the "rightness" of the car. The owner lost his car due to a service error? The service returns the equivalent to the owner in cash.
