The Assembly of Sisters of Mercy of Saint Charles Boromeus will celebrate on Friday 11 September 130 years of presence in Mikołów and the 125th anniversary of the continuous operation of St. Joseph Hospital, formed at the initiative of sisters in 1901.

The Jubilee celebrations will be held on Friday 11 September in Mikołów. At 10 a.m., Holy Mass will be celebrated in the Church of Our woman of the Snow (St. Wojciech 4th Street). At 11.30 p.m., the past and mission of the Boromeśzki Sisters infirmary will be recalled in the Outer School Work Camp (U.S. Zwirki and Wigura 2). At 1 p.m. there was a meal planned and a performance of young talent.

Boromeuszko arrived in Mikolov in 1896 thanks to Fr Józef Grunt, the large social and parish priest of St. Wojciech's parish there. From the beginning, their activities were connected with caring for the sick and helping the residents. 5 years later (1901) the sisters began the operation of St. Joseph's Hospital, which for the following decades was transforming and developing, serving residents of the city and the area.

"The past of our infirmary is rich and inextricably connected with the past of Mikolov. In the following decades the infirmary was expanded, fresh wards and facilities were created for patients" – reminds Justyna Adamska, the press spokesperson of St. Joseph infirmary in Mikołów.

During planet War II, the sisters took care of the sick and injured, and after the war they continued to work with the sick. In 1949, the infirmary was nationalized. Boromeus, although in much truncated possibilities besides in the times of the Polish People's Republic inactive served the sick. In 1998, the institution returned to the Assembly.

For 125 years, almost everything has changed: diagnostic capabilities, treatment methods, equipment and organization of infirmary work. What guided Boromeuszko from the beginning did not change – care for the sick and needy. It was the service of the sick, the suffering and the mediocre that was the peculiar mission of the Assembly and brought the sisters to Mikołów 130 years ago.
