On the occasion of planet intellectual wellness Day, Nest Bank publishes a study entitled Entrepreneurs at Risk, which draws the attention of the public and the owners of tiny and medium-sized companies themselves to the request to take care of their emotional health. The activities are carried out together with substantive partners: Helping Hand platform and Synergion investigation company.
Micro-entrepreneurs, despite their crucial contribution to the improvement of the economy, face many regular problems, both professional and personal. The results of the study showed that entrepreneurs are aware of their crucial function – this is confirmed by 88% of respondents.
It is worth noting that 80% of the workforce share this opinion, who believe that tiny and medium-sized companies drive the economy. It would seem that specified self-aware and appreciated group in Poland is doing great. Nothing more wrong. Entrepreneurs in Poland feel underestimated and overloaded. Moreover, the overwhelming majority of staff members agree with their feelings. As many as 84% of surveyed entrepreneurs think that in Poland people who run their own business are not respected and 74% of employees agree with this view.

Micro-entrepreneurs – threatened and overloaded
The results of the study showed that moving your own company cannot be closed within a rigid framework of 8 hours and 96% of micro-entrepreneurs feel overworked, including 31% to a advanced degree. This shows, among others, the deficiency of time for remainder and regeneration: as many as 6 out of 10 entrepreneurs do not take medical leave in case of illness, 56% do not take leave longer than a week for fear of the situation at work, and nearly half of them are on the telephone 24/7. In addition, sleep abandonment and unhealthy eating occur.
– The micro-enterprise section in Poland is like the large Barrier Reef. From a distance, it looks powerful and colorful, but from close up you can see that it consists of delicate organisms, which, despite good preparation, are very delicate to external factors – he comments Michał Kociankowski, General manager at Synergion. – Entrepreneurs feel lonely, overburdened and underestimated, which has a immense impact on their intellectual condition.
Overburdening work, the sense of professional burnout, the deficiency of separation of professional life from the private sphere or the constant sense of danger translate into the intellectual condition of Polish entrepreneurs. 68% of micro-entrepreneurs have experienced signs of a intellectual crisis over the last 3 years, and almost 6 out of 10 of them (57%) experience long-term anxiety. According to the indicators analysed, 1 in 3 entrepreneurs (32%) is at hazard of depression or already exhibiting symptoms. Almost 1 in 3 entrepreneurs have a reduced temper and 1 in 5 are burdened with excessive stress.
The survey indicates that among micro-entrepreneurs there is no specified thing as “a calm moving of the company”. In the last 3 years, almost all entrepreneurs have experienced various symptoms that have shown tension, anxiety and reduced mood. hard intellectual states do not pass distant without a trace, and fear is first and foremost felt. Women in peculiar at risk
The study shows that women are in an even more hard situation than their male counterparts. 54% of women postpone all pleasures for later, and 38% are at hazard of depression compared to 28% of men. Women are more likely to experience symptoms of a intellectual wellness crisis – moving their own company is much more incriminating for them than for men. As many as 7/10 entrepreneurs experience sleep problems compared to more than 5/10 entrepreneurs. Women besides experience more frequent recurring fear for their future (66% women vs 52% men).
