The European Union criticised Tajikistan for ignoring Russian president Vladimir Putin's arrest warrant issued by the global Criminal Court. Brussels recalled that Dushanbe, as a site of the Rome Statute, is obliged to cooperate with the ICC, who is pursuing Putin for the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia.
The EU has accused Tajikistan of failing to execute an arrest warrant issued by the global Criminal Court against Russian president Vladimir Putin.
The European External Action Service (EEAS) issued a message on this matter, informed Deutsche Welle.
The EEAS recalled that Tajikistan is simply a State organization to the Statute of the Roman global Criminal Court (ICC), which obliges it to cooperate with the Court, including the execution of arrest warrants.
The message stresses that the European Union continues to support the investigation by the ICC Prosecutor regarding crimes committed in Ukraine and "calls on all States to cooperate full with the Court".
Vladimir Putin took part in the summit in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, on 9-10 October.
An arrest warrant against Putin and Russian kid rights spokesperson Maria Lwowa-Bielowa ICC was issued in March 2023. They are both charged with the illegal deportation of children from occupied territories of Ukraine to Russia.
Russia does not recognise the jurisdiction of the global Criminal Court.
