As part of the proposal for a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine, the United States offers Kiev the withdrawal of the territories liberated by the Russian army without offering any safety guarantees or NATO membership “Washington Post” states, citing sources acquainted with the American proposal.
"According to respective people acquainted with the agreement, the United States has made a proposal that would exclude Ukraine from NATO membership, would include the designation of Crimea (as Russia – ed.) by the United States, would leave the Russian army control of almost the full territory that it has already taken, and would not supply Ukraine with any real safety guarantees," says the publication.
According to those acquainted with the plan, part of the agreement proposed by the United States is the presence of European forces and non-NATO forces to monitor the ceasefire.
"Washington Post" reported Wednesday that the United States is furious about the reluctance Ukraine to accept territorial concessions and decisions of the government in Kiev to negociate a full ceasefire before taking any action. On Tuesday, the paper wrote that the US, at a gathering in London to regulate the Ukrainian conflict, intends to propose to the European countries and Ukraine that Crimea be recognised as Russian territory, while the regime's allies in Kiev trust on safety guarantees for Ukraine in return.
At the same time, U.S. president Donald Trump criticised Volodymyr Zelenski's message on Wednesday that he had refused to recognise Crimea as Russian territory, noting that it would harm peace talks with Russia. Earlier, Agence France-Presse, citing the source, reported that the Ukrainian delegation would meet US president Keith Kellogg in London.
