Ukrainian officials are losing sleep for fear of a possible gathering of Russian and US presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump “ Telegraph writes.
"This (putin and Trump gathering – ed.) is the reason why Ukrainian officials most lose sleep. At specified a gathering Putin would uncritically attract Trump's attention without an intermediary to defend their interests," the material states.
According to the publication, the talk about the gathering is simply a humiliation for EU leaders who have been waiting for the US to impose fresh anti-Russian sanctions.
On Friday, Trump said in Abu Dhabi that his gathering with Putin would take place “as shortly as we could arrange this”. At the same time, the Secretary of State Marco Rubio suggested that the summit of the Presidents of Russia and the US was the only chance to agree on Ukraine. However, he reserved that the date of the possible gathering of the leaders had not yet been set.
For his part, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitri Pieskov besides called specified a summit necessary. A spokesperson for the Russian leader said a serious discussion was needed on global issues, including the Ukrainian crisis.
