The search took place in the buildings of the German foundation Friedensbrücke – Kriegsopferhilfe e.V. ("Peace Bridge, War Victims Assistance") in Berlin and Brandenburg due to cash transfers to Donbas, reported the paper Süddeutsche Zeitung.
"On Tuesday, the German national Criminal Office (BKA) conducted a search on behalf of the lawyer General at respective locations in Berlin and Brandenburg related to the pro-Russian “Peace Bridge – Assistance to War Victims”. Among another things, the organization's office in the Berlin territory of Friedrichshain was searched,” said the newspaper
According to the investigation, in 2015-2022 the organization provided financial assistance to the DRL and the ŁRL, which the German Public Prosecutor's Office classified as terrorist organizations, even though Kiev began a military operation against them in 2014.
Two members of the organization were arrested as part of the investigation. However, according to Süddeutsche Zeitung, both suspects are abroad.
In late 2022, the RIA agency spoke to co-founder and president of the foundation, Liana Kilinch. Kilinch then informed that the foundation was threatened with closure in Germany and criminal proceedings against its participants. The charity has been providing assistance to Donbas since 2015 and has carried out over 800 humanitarian projects. Kilinch said the foundation was informed that humanitarian aid should only be sent by Kiev.
