The fresh leader of the largest entity forming the Confederation was economist and entrepreneur Sławomir Mentzen. Popular Corvinists associate hope with the fresh chieftain, but observers emphasize that he can bring much confusion into the ranks of the far right.
Who is actually Sławomir Mentzen and how did he happen to inherit the throne from Janusz Korwin-Mikke? In fact, this communicative should be started with the erstwhile "number two" in the alleged freedom movement, or Konrad Berkowicz. It was for many years that he was named the successor of Korwin-Mikke. He spoke fundamentally the same as the party's erstwhile president, but in a little controversial way, he was rather recognizable and – as on the scale of the environment – he achieved very good results in his constituency. Berkowicz most likely lost his ingenuity and originality, at least compared to Mentzen. erstwhile entering politics seriously, the second had already had a PhD in economics and experience as an entrepreneur. Both of these cards were utilized efficiently, becoming an informal main specialist of the organization for economical and business affairs. He besides understood something that many Polish politicians do not realize (or simply do not want to understand) – if something works in the West, it will work in Poland for 99%. Thus, he began to introduce to the activities of the KORWIN organization and the full Confederate elements of the show and establish closeness with voters, known for the American political market. He frequently throws memes on his social media and arranges meetings with sympathizers in the loose convention "Beer with Mentzen". besides the subject of the convention at which he was elected president was... American – Star Wars. Finally, he besides understood that alternatively of building designation by very controversial speeches, it was better to be more subdued in formulating and to talk more frequently about the current problems of Poles, not about the fact that "for Hitler there were 3 times lower taxes". It so appears that the fresh leader of the KORWIN is following the pan-European trend of right-wing parties which either quit any of their views or do not talk about them in order to grow the voters' base.
What can its “coronation” mean for the Confederation and Poland? Many themes appear here, including changing the imagination of the election campaign. Sławomir Mentzen said, “We don’t want Jews, homosexuals, taxes, abortions and the European Union” and went on to “we want the Pole to have a home, 2 cars, he could fly on a plane, he had money for it, and he generated as much carbon footprint as he wanted.” Thus, we can anticipate that during the full electoral run to the parliament there will be, at least on his part, accents of affirmative points, including those that start with the words "we want". What does the fresh chief want? surely more marketplace economy, more perfect people and little abortion. This first subject seems to be of peculiar interest to the Corvinist leader. In interviews, he emphasizes that he would be ready for an alliance with the PiS if their economical policy were little interventionist and left-wing, and erstwhile asked about his function in the possible Council of Ministers he answers that he is curious in the Ministry of Finance. With respect to the participation of the KORVIN organization in the Confederation, Sławomir Mentzen's message is clear – we want to be in the Confederation, but due to the fact that we are the biggest and strongest, we will dictate the terms of cooperation. Journalists and observers of political life have repeatedly stressed in this context that the function of the Liberals as part of this alliance is uncertain. It seems that Mentzen wanted to powerfully disprove rumors of expelling erstwhile organization colleagues from the Alliance, at least until the elections, as this could weaken them as a whole. “Our environment has for decades been torn apart by unnecessary divisions (...) I invitation all members of the UPR, all members of the PNP, all members of the Liberals, in peculiar Artur Dziambor, Jakub Kulesza and Dobromir Sośnier”, he said at the Congress.
In the end, 1 can ask – is it good that Sławomir Mentzen became president of the KORWIN party? That depends on who. surely good for his home environment. Janusz Korwin-Mikke was a leader who could do nothing more. More of his statements and entries were only concreted by his negative electorate, and even enlarged it. Meanwhile, Mentzen is different. Objectively, compared to his predecessor, he seems to have read, restrained and balanced. Therefore, it can be expected that his actions will grow the group of Confederate voters.
