I liked Mr Adam's letter (ANGOR No. 28) briefly assessing the attitude of the elder MP from Mr Sawicki's PSL, who, like any of the PiS, would like Donald Tusk to resign. Huzia to the emigrant!
In ANGORE No. 28 I found the text “Omar is ours! Omar is Polish”, referring to the incomprehensible, madly even discourse about migrants in Poland. Fortunately, ANGORA's text straightens out many false, biased information on the scale of immigration. I would like to add that Polish psychiatrists should address the problem of the Polish border more urgently.
What do I base my thesis on? Here, a fewer days ago, I spoke to 1 of the publicists (God forbids, he was not of the kind “To Things”) who told me about a bunch of dark-skinned immigrants wandering around Warsaw with pockets stuffed with money. He's even seen them, terrible, collecting cash from ATMs! He besides complained about privileged Ukrainians to get a job. – If Poles were to receive specified subsidies (sic!), they would besides be willing to deliver food on bicycles, which, as we know, is the domain of dark-skinned people staying in our home," he said. I wanted to tell the editor that I think we live in different countries, due to the fact that I have a different image of the lives of immigrants. And what is the fact about the scale of the emigration of Poles and immigrants staying here? statistic are ruthless in this regard. After years of being a country of expatriates in just 10 years, we became a host country for visitors from all over the world. Let us skip the period before the Second planet War, erstwhile more than 2 million people left Poland. Post-war trips were: about 40 1000 people in the 1960s and 1970s; about 3 million people left Poland for economical reasons in the 1970s and 1980s, after 2004, another 1.5 million people left Poland. It is estimated that present about 20 million Poles live in the world. What would my interviewer say if the authorities of Berlin, London, Dublin, etc. sent patrols to the streets catching Poles 15 years ago? And what is the scale of immigration? In 2011, it lived in Poland – according to the Census of the Commons – 100 1000 foreigners, i.e. they were 0.3 percent of the population at the time. According to the census of 2021, there were about 1.3 million foreigners in Poland.
Today, the number of foreigners is estimated at 2.3 – 2.5 million (approximately 6 percent). Thus, in 15 years the population of foreigners increased 25 times. There were respective reasons for this. First permissions to work for citizens of respective countries from the East, then the anticipation of settling on the basis of the Polish Charter, yet – which affected the increase in the number of immigrants most – the outbreak of war in Ukraine. Ukrainians so account for almost 80% of visitors. My observations show that Ukrainians are doing rather well in Poland: they are active, thus filling the deficit of the native labour force; they learn and study, get real estate; they plan to stay for longer.
I get the impression that, contrary to what my interviewer said about subsidies, they work below their qualifications and endure poorer working conditions and wages to look forward to stabilising their position in Poland. ARTUR BUKE
About Ukrainians in Poland
The first Ukrainians came to us respective decades ago. Initially, as economical immigrants, they slow learned Western working methods and requirements. As a consequence of the differences in exchange rates and prices in both countries, their earnings were advanced in relation to what they could gain at home. However, I remember a time erstwhile work in Russia was competitive for working on Polish construction. It is 1 of the highest employment rates of immigrants from all OECD countries, and only 25% of them work in Germany. Almost half of Ukrainian immigrants are people with higher education. In addition, they are young and active due to the fact that half of them were under 44 years old. According to ZUS data, in 2024 foreigners paid PLN 18.5 billion for pension and pension contributions. This is as much as 5.9 percent of the full income of the Social safety Office.
In turn, the authors of the Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego study on immigration wrote explicitly that given the estimated value of taxes paid in Poland by migrants from Ukraine, it can be concluded that for all 1 PLN received by Ukrainian citizens under the programme The 800 plus migrants paid about PLN 5.4 to the Polish budget. These are the facts.
The aforementioned reports estimation that Ukrainians pay to our budget from various titles (contributions, direct and indirect taxes) around PLN 20 billion, while the cost of payments "800 plus" and peculiar activities in schools related to the stay of Ukrainian children is the cost of the state budget of about PLN 5 billion. There are sometimes opinions about specified or another cases of "abuse of hospitality" by Ukrainian immigrants.
As in all community, black sheep are found there that spoil the reputation of others. Police statistic do not confirm in any way thesis that foreigners in any way contribute to the increase of crime in our country. Social affairs
There is no logic in all of this. If there has been an mistake in any procedure (although one), then this procedure should be repeated, which means the request to recalculate all the votes. Is it my knowing that I would like to know how many votes were actually received by individual candidates? After all, the presumption that the number of mistakes made during the election process does not mean who won is illogical and unacceptable to people thinking.
The question arises whether candidates themselves should not be curious in who actually received more votes; triumph requires 1 of them to receive a minimum of 1 vote more. In this situation we do not know the number of votes obtained by candidates. I don't want to mention the names of candidates here, I don't want to put unnecessary emotions in this statement, I mean the meaning of the matter. The State (government) is from ensuring that I, a citizen of the Republic of Poland with full civilian rights, warrant a fair number of my vote according to my will as a voter.
Is it not amazing that PKW does not know how many votes each candidate received? Amazing! If that is not the case, I will consider that this was the last of my choices (also my closest ones) and this letter, which I address to ANGORY Editorial Office, will be an excuse for my future citizenship (...). I will most likely not be isolated in my opinion, and this will be a large blow to the broadly understood democracy in Poland in the future. I would add that all of this is steeped in politics, but politics was justified in electoral silence, and on 1.06. the substance became a social matter. We chose the president.
Over a period ago, a second, decisive circular of presidential elections took place. And Charles Nawrocki won it. I can't realize how this could have happened. A man with a very unusual résumé won. Years of youth – it is sad to remember. A later period – possibly a small better. So what if a man is educated and intelligent? You can't forget the past. On the another hand, the president of Warsaw, Rafał Trzaskowski. A politician experienced, intelligent and decent – I was certain he would win the election. And he's losing! I am incapable to realize this – like millions of Poles. Something incredible! After all, if we truly love Poland – and it is hard to uncertainty that – then the election of Rafał Trzaskowski as president should be obvious. Well, in this situation, we can only effort to be optimistic.
To hope that everything will work out somehow, that in view of the good of the country, politicians will constantly take action beneficial for Poles and Poles. And the fresh president, Mr. Karol Nawrocki, will not just be a executor of intelligent ideas from Żoliborz. Well, you can dream. And it may even be essential – due to the fact that sometimes dreams come true. And for Mr Roman Giertych – thanks. To conclude these sad considerations: in fresh months, the ruling coalition – with the PO at the head – did not deserve peculiar praise. Including campaigning. Unfortunately, that is the truth. If you don't know what's going on, then...
Watching our football players play, it seems that they do not care about the results of the games.
