Jordan Bardella, leader of the National Unity (RN), made a firm decision to retreat from the Conference of Conservative Political Action (CPAC) in Washington DC. His decision shows that the French right can set limits erstwhile needed, even to perfect allies from across the ocean.

The French was to give a speech on the cooperation of conservative movements in Europe and America and on the patriotic successes of the parties on the Old Continent. However, as he himself stressed in the statement, he decided to retreat after 1 of the speakers made a motion that could be interpreted as a Roman salute or Hitlergruß.

“Yesterday, erstwhile I was not present in the hall, 1 of the speakers provokedly made a motion referring to Nazi ideology. That is why I immediately decided to cancel my speech," Bardell informed.

French politician thus showed that the French right wants to be associated with patriotism and conservatism, but not with unnecessary provocations that can be utilized by the media to discredit the right.

The individual whose behaviour caused controversy is Steve Bannon – erstwhile advisor to Donald Trump and 1 of the most celebrated voices of American conservatism. After his speech on the CPAC ended, he raised his hand, which left-wing media immediately interpreted as a fascist gesture.

Bannon himself unequivocally rejected these accusations, claiming that it was simply a "say hello to the crowd." In conversation with French Le Point He besides referred to Bardella's decision, claiming that the French politician was "not fit to lead" if he withdrew under pressure.

Bardella and Marine Le Pen have long not covered their affirmative attitude towards Donald Trump. Le Pen, the leader of the RN club in the French parliament, late spoke at the “Make Europe large Again” conference, organised by the Spanish Vox party, where she talked about “a global political change”.

"It is not just a change of power in a democratic state. This is simply a global turning point," Le Pen stressed, pointing to the increasing popularity of patriotic movements around the world.

Many observers believe that specified speeches are the ones that are building a real alternate to the compromised model of Brussels bureaucracy and globalisation, which is increasingly losing its importance in the eyes of average Europeans.

Bardella, as RN leader, shows that his group is ready to presume work for France's future. Unlike any right-wing movements that focus on shocks and provocations, the French nationalists are betting on a serious and sovereign policy. The head of the organization clearly signals that the French right does not intend to submit to any narration that may harm her position on the national political scene.

Jordan Bardella is 1 of the most promising leaders of the European right. At the age of only 29, he took the lead in the National Unity, taking the helm after Marine Le Pen. It is the face of modern, dynamic patriotism, which combines defence of national identity with a pragmatic approach to global politics. As leader of the Patriots Group for Europe in the European Parliament, Bardella is actively working on building France's stronger position in Europe, opposing further EU federalisation and uncontrolled migration.
