From Cameroon, brothers from the Marian Priests' Assembly – Marcel Arnauld Mbazda Anessolo and Eric Ninon Aboudi Embolo – renewed their spiritual vows on 1 September. During the Mass in the Lichen Basilica for the next year, they committed themselves to surviving in purity, poorness and obedience to God.

The Mass was presided over by Father Adam Stankiewicz MIC, the ruler of the Lichen spiritual community. In a homily, he pointed out the power of the word we perceive to all day. He emphasized that many words can spiritually enslave, take distant religion and hope. However, there is 1 Word that does not enslave, but liberates.

"Today's Gospel invites you to ask yourself how much I believe Jesus' word in my life, in my everyday life. How much I miss Jesus' word, which does not enslave me, but frees me," said Fr Stankiewicz MIC.

In the remainder of the homily, the clergy pointed out that today’s renewal of the vows by the brothers was just a sign of the answer to Jesus ’ word, which seemingly does not promise much.

– The way of the cross is inscribed in the spiritual life, but Jesus assures of the grace through which we will receive the joy of eternal life," he pointed out. This word present is an invitation to discover in itself this calling which God bestows on us. Calling to be His kid to feel again loved by Him, desired and invited to follow Jesus.

He encouraged the faithful to perceive to God’s word and to let their regular life change.
