A United Nations Interim Armed Forces soldier in Lebanon (UNIFIL) died of wounds sustained on Wednesday in a rocket attack in southeastern Lebanon, and 2 others suffered injuries - reported mission command on Thursday. The Ministry of Defence of Serbia reported that the killed soldier was a Serb.
At the time of the attack, UN troops were in their designated position, said Reuters. The AFP Agency reported that the soldiers were at the UN Force Base in Ebel El Saki in the territory of Majdal Zun.
The Serbian Ministry of Defence wrote in a communication that the fallen soldier was a 1989-born elder sergeant Milovan Jovanović, who “was given medical assistance at the base erstwhile he was wounded, and was then transported by chopper to the University Medical Center in Beirut, where he died about 4 o'clock.”
The Spanish press agency Europa Press reported that 2 injured UN soldiers are Spanish citizens, but their injuries do not endanger their lives.
