Mentzen responded on Twitter to the words of the PiS politician Adam Bielan, whose view was that the triumph of Rafał Trzaskowski in the election would be a "partial merit" of Mentzen. The reason was that the Confederate politician had just had a beer with Trzaskowski in his pub.

As WP learned, there was a concern in the ranks of PiS activists about friction on the right at a crucial phase of the campaign. – Mentzen's electorate is crucial to us, if we discourage the Confederacy with stupid, unnecessary attacks and arguments, we will simply lose this election.
