On Sunday, October 11, the diocesan celebrations of the Lost kid Day were held at the Shrine of Divine Mercy in Kraków-Łagiewniki. Parents and families who in their hearts bear the pain after the child's departure gathered together to entrust their children in silence and prayer to God's Mercy.
The celebrations began at the hr of Mercy. Those who in their hearts carry longing and pain after a lost kid came to the Slavic basilica. Together they refused the Crown to God's Mercy, and then attended the Holy Mass for the gift of life for all life, including 1 that lasted so short.
The Eucharist was presided over and homily was given by Fr Józef Habina, chaplain of the University infirmary in Krakow and pastor of the sick Archdiocese of Krakow. The rector of the sanctuary, Fr Zbigniew Bielas, welcomed the gathered. He reminded that the sanctuary was preparing for the 25th anniversary of entrusting the planet to God's Mercy. He recalled the words of St John Paul II about looking into the eyes of the merciful Jesus "in them 1 can find a reflection of one's own life and light of grace." He expressed hope that prayer in this place would strengthen the participants and aid them in God’s mercy to find the origin of hope.
In the homily, Fr.Habin addressed his parents with large delicacy, who mourn their children. He noted that anger and disappointment could happen in their hearts alongside pain. Reaching for liturgical readings, he recalled Isaiah’s promise that God would wipe the tears out of all face, and the image from the Psalms, according to which the Lord stores the tears of the weeping in his beech.
“If you are experiencing pain here today, if you are crying today, if you are asking today, ‘Why me?’, then God wants to tell you and wants to show you that in this Eucharist he wants to wipe your tears. He sees your tears," said the priest.
The death of a kid called an experience that could become a "dark valley"—to the psyche, feelings, and even spirit. He recalled the words of the psalm, "Though I pass through the dark valley, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me." He emphasized that Christ wants to go with the sufferer and asks him to hold his hand.
Referring to Paul’s letter to the Philippians, he pointed out the sentence, “I can do anything in the 1 who strengthens me.” He encouraged his parents to take those words with them. He admitted that they may feel afraid of seeking another child, but being rooted in Christ allows them to do what seems humanly impossible.
Speaking of the Gospel and the parable of the feast, Fr.Habina stressed that God was pleased with his invitation. The Eucharist and Communion he called a origin of aid and strengthening. Communion can fill any void, including the 1 in the heart of a parent and father after losing a child. He appealed for the frequent usage of Holy Communion and for him to express his pain and disappointment in confession. He expressed the belief that suffering would become lighter over time.
“This does not mean that we will forget. We have no right to forget," he stressed.
The pastor admitted that he did not know the answer to the question why so many parents experience this loss. He called it a mystery written into God’s greater plan, which man can realize only in time, possibly only after death. He besides expressed religion that suffering with God would result. It will aid parents to aid others who conflict with a akin wound.
Finally, he encouraged his parents to pray for the intercession of their dead children.
“These are your intercessors. They will aid you," he said, expressing the belief that children will frequently show how much they love their parents.
A peculiar minute of celebration was the adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Parents, holding burning white candles in their hands, read the Act of Trust in Children Lost to God’s Mercy. Anyone could have written the name of their kid on the card. These names will be entered in the Book of the Lost Children.
At the Shrine of Divine Mercy in Kraków-Lagiewniki there is simply a pastoral service of the Parents of Lost Children. It supports parents and families who endure the failure of their child, accompanying them on their way to hope and peace of heart.
