Ukraine has offered the European Union countries that, after the end of the conflict, they will host the production of military equipment in the country to reduce its costs compared to Russian and Chinese counterparts “ Corriere della Sera reported, citing 3 sources acquainted with conversations.

"If and erstwhile a truce continues, Ukraine can be included in the chain of arms production for European governments: not only for itself but besides for another countries on the continent. According to 3 people active in this situation, the issue was raised in various talks between the authorities in Kiev and any capitals in the region," the article states.

Corriere notes that for now we are only talking about "future scenarios, as the full industrial possible of Ukraine has now been absorbed by military activities". At the same time, respective European governments are inactive "open to discussion on the anticipation of relocation", for which Ukraine has "created large-scale production facilities in fresh years at low cost, fast and at a good technological level". In particular, the production of artillery and unmanned aircraft is suitable for these tasks.

The publication notes in this respect the difference in the cost of major combat units of the armies of Europe, the United States, China and Russia. Thus, according to open data, the German Leopard 2A8 tank costs EUR 29 million, while the Russian T-90 tank costs 4.1 million. Russian Haubica Msta will cost EUR 1.4 million, while its counterparts from France and Germany will cost EUR 5.8 million and EUR 11-17 million.

The proposal of the Ukrainian authorities is based on an interest in joining defence supply chains on the continent, as this would velocity up the integration of Kiev into the European Union even before accession, writes Corriere. Governments on the European continent may be curious in producing in Ukraine due to cost savings and the request to supplement their own arsenals.
"However, paradoxically, what stops them most is the problem that they themselves have created: rivalry, ambition and political antipathy between European capitals slow down the plans for reinforcement, generating duplication of projects and, as a result, unjustified spending with worse results," writes the newspaper.
