230 1000 Poles will find a call for military qualifications in their mailboxes this year. For some, it is simply a letter of large concern, for others – the first step towards a career in the army. However, it is an work for all those who are called upon to submit to the qualification to neglect to comply with the legal consequences.
In 2025 military qualification began on 3 February and will last until April 30. Notices of deadlines and the place of action of the region commissions are prepared by local governments. The calls are besides served to individual persons by post – at the latest 7 days before the date of the appointment. – However, if individual has not received specified a call, and belongs to a group of persons subject to the work of military qualifications, it does not mean that he is released from it – says Major Sylwester Janowski of the Military Recruitment Centre in Łódź. “The specified posting of posters with information on military qualifications obliges persons covered by it to appear”, he adds.
This group primarily includes men from the alleged basic yearbook, i.e. those who turn 19 in a given year. This year's military qualification is so attended by all born in 2006. Calls may besides be expected for persons who have been considered temporarily unfit for military service in erstwhile years, as well as those who inactive have an unregulated attitude to military service.
Also for women
Although the majority of the region commissions are men, any women will besides find calls in their mailboxes. In this case, the profession they execute is crucial. Professions useful in military service are primarily those related to medicine. However, not only doctors and paramedics are curious in the army. For example, students who complete philological courses can be amazed by the call – translators are besides included in the list, as are IT and IT specialists and rehabilitators and psychologists. Women who are entitled (or who have completed studies in the right direction) to prosecute veterinary, marine and aviation professions are besides eligible for military qualifications. This year's qualification will include women born between 1998 and 2006.
Truth and Myths
Many myths have grown around military qualifications. Biggest? It's a draft. – In Poland we have a professional army and joining the service is full voluntary. Regardless of the category assigned, we don't direct anyone to military service," explains Cf. Michał Gełej from Central Military Recruitment Center. “That doesn’t mean we don’t encourage it,” he adds.
Soldiers from military units from the region are present in the region medical committees. Their task is to inform about the anticipation of joining the army and possible career paths, and tell about the specificity of the individual. At once, the persons afraid may fill in the applications to accept a voluntary essential military service or territorial military service. – WOT is peculiarly attractive to young people, due to the fact that the service can be reconciled with studies and even with advanced school education. I know cases of adults who inactive attend school, but are trained in territorial service on weekends. Military qualification allows you to take the first step in this direction – says Lt. Gełej. What's up with the research?
The qualification itself is not complicated and usually takes up to a fewer hours – it depends on the number of candidates. The first step is to check the identity card, then the candidates face the medical committee. Their data shall be entered in the military records.
