The Faculty of Catholic Theology of the University of Lublin John Paul II issued unequivocally statement condemning the practice of abortion motivated by a pregnant woman’s intellectual state.

The authors of the statement, citing both national law, the constitution of the Polish Republic and global human rights documents, remind us that all human life, since conception, is subject to legal protection. They point out that the Constitutional Court of Poland has repeatedly recognised the life of a kid conceived as a constitutional value. They besides quote the articles of the Penal Code which clearly specify criminal work for abortion in the event that the kid has reached the ability to live outside the mother's body.

The paper contains a strong doctrinal message – human life, according to the teachings of the Catholic Church, is sacred and inviolable. "Don't kill" – this commandment should stay an impossible limit, including for the legislator and doctors. This teaching has not only a spiritual dimension, but besides a universal one, rooted in natural law.

A peculiar place in the message is criticism of the approach of the Ministry of wellness and the Polish Psychiatric Society to the issue of intellectual disorders during pregnancy. KUL experts point out that neither guidelines nor medical posts indicate reliable diagnostic criteria. On the contrary, they stress that there is no evidence in technological literature to improve the intellectual wellness of a female after an abortion. On the contrary, they mention studies according to which the hazard of depression, anxiety, trauma and even post-an abortion suicides is higher than in women who were born.

The Department of Theology of the KUL expresses its deep opposition to attempts to make a fresh liberal explanation of abortion law and warns that specified an approach leads to erosion of moral norms, depravity of consciences and violation of law – both constituted and natural. Recalling the words of Blessed Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński – “to defend life, you do not request to be a Christian – it is adequate to be a man” – the university recalls the universal work to defend the weakest.
