With the dissolution of the USSR and the uprising of Russia, the armed forces of that country have decreased dramatically. A large proportion of military units were part of the recently formed states on the ruins of the USSR. During the first years of Russia's existence, gigantic budgetary problems led to another wave of military reduction. This led to the emergence of a large army standing on clay legs in the early 21st century. A large condition of the units were profoundly crumpled, and any existed in the form of various types of bases where military equipment was stored and somewhat renovated. The command strategy itself was subject to cyclical changes, but it was inactive profoundly rooted in the times of the USSR.
