Policy Weekly No. 4 (3448),17-23 January 2024
The column in Politics is important, as it shows how, if at all, Polish media present matters happening behind the ocean. After the PO has taken over the media, there is no chance of an alternate look. So it's worth seeing how far the fake image is serving us.
Columnist Ryszard Koziołek discusses the independency of universities in the text entitled Academic Talk on page 91 of the magazine. This is about explanations on student demonstrations submitted before the congressional committee by 3 ruling rectors at 3 American universities. (This rector, this rector; these rectors, these rectors; these rectors were summoned and these rectors—this is the correct way to speak. The Rector is part of the tractor).
There have been demonstrations at universities, and so 3 rectors were called before the U.S. legislature Committee to give explanations. Mr. Koziołek writes:
I cannot justice whether the form of student protests that caused the rectors' hearings was reprehensible or not, but if this happens at university, then politicians should not decide that.
Perhaps, but circumstances are important, and that is what the columnist should be curious in before writing what he wrote, and not about the form of protests, but mainly about content. Especially erstwhile a columnist is simply a scientist, the substance of knowing facts before expressing an opinion should be fundamental. In these circumstantial cases, the demonstrations were not protests in the defence of the Palestinians or against the Israeli genocide in Gaza, but they were support for Hamas' actions and an open call for the killing of all Jews everywhere in the world, or calling for genocide. Everywhere, including the US and these circumstantial universities. The university authorities did not respond in any way, so you were asked to explain. As Mr. Goat says:
An aggressive, prosecutorial speech of fresh York Republican congresswoman Elise Stefanik has stunned me. Finally, in front of the legislature committee were the people who led the 3 powerful universes [...]. Meanwhile, we watched a theatrically agitated politician push them around. She demanded an answer ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to 1 question in fact: Does calling for the demolition of Jews violate the laws of harassment and intimidation in force at your university? And they patiently replied that it depends on the context.
Yeah, how's 1 to the other? The question is worth a factual answer. Is it contextual to call for genocide? Interesting idea. Mr Ryszard Koziołek should effort it in his next text. Since prof. Koziołek is besides the Rector of the University of Silesia in Katowice, he can besides make specified an effort at his university. Let his students a small urge to repeat the Holocaust, and he will find the right context.
Political columnist allegedly very dislikes the speech of the questions, but I am convinced that in practice he is most hurt by the fact that the congressman's question exposes the hypocrisy that prevailed at American universities. These universities boast that they are expected to make a safe space for students and workers. Constantly at the expense of discipline and the full academic community, they defend allegedly oppressed minorities. Therefore, there is simply a constant hunt for non-rulers, and the rules are very many and strictly enforced. For example, not utilizing the pronouns br, gr, tr, required by individual who considered himself a typical of the imaginary sex bgtr-ts and addressing that individual is the aggression and speech of hatred. The innocent carelessly spoken word is regarded as a speech of hatred, as an attack on individual and causes the expulsion of the “aggressor” from the university, and at the same time the loud and public call for the immediate slaughter of a peculiar national group does not meet any reaction from the university authorities. Something doesn't add up. Like the author's later long comment on how universities are the basis of free and independent reasoning and unfettered discussion. Under the regulation of scholars like Claudine Gay at Harvard, it's precisely the opposite.
Claudine Gay was the first black individual and second female in the position of Rector of Harvard, and this and her sexual orientation were most likely the main basis for appointment to specified a advanced position. According to Wikipedia's website, her investigation focuses on American political behavior, including election turnout and racial and identity politics. We won't read much on Wikipedia's website about technological achievements, due to the fact that there aren't many. In another places, as many as 11 articles are reported to be made up of Claudine Gay’s work. An highly awesome accomplishment for a university rector belonging to the Ivy League and occupying advanced places in planet rankings, including the first place on the Shanghai List. Mr. Richard Koziołek at Scopus has 8 jobs, so he can become the Rector of Harvard. Incidentally, I consider it a large mistake to make rectors of universities of humanities representatives. First, they are absolutely incapable to comprehend another teachings or their needs, specified as experimental ones. It lies far beyond their grasp. Worse still, they are susceptible to various ideological news that they eagerly accept and then implement. Mr Koziołk must besides be studying “students” alternatively than average students.
I may have looked badly, but I found only 2 publications in the Scopus database Claudine Gay, while the Web of discipline database gives as many as 7 articles from 2006 to 2020 and 1 in 2024 (super, Gay just caught up with Koziołek!). A unusual proportion, due to the fact that the Scopus base is mostly more liberal and takes into account more works, including those in the lower listed journals (for this reason in Poland the Ministry of discipline inactive for Govin in the evaluation of universities and scholars passed on to Scopus). The confusion may arise from the fact that any of the work of the brave rector was withdrawn in connection with plagiarism charges. Mr Koziołek does not compose about this substance at all, but mentions at the end of the column that he encouraged you to step down Gay from position:
‘a proposition was made to commit plagiarism. It ended by instructing her to quote sources more carefully."
That's a good suggestion. A plagiarism was proven in almost all her works, but ended in instruction. Since plagiarisms were besides found in her dissertation, it should end up taking a PhD and relegating from the university, but whatever. Such requirements do not apply to racially and ideologically righteous persons. According to a message made by Harvard, Mrs. Gay updated her doctoral dissertation and requested amendments from magazines.

To make things funnier, plagiarism was even found in the thanks she put in her doctoral thesis. She might have quoted individual there, and giving the origin would not have diminished anything, but she preferred to fuck the text and give it as her own. This woman is simply a notorious and pathological compulsive plagiarism who should be irrevocably driven from discipline to 4 winds, but ended with instruction. By the way, everything seems a bit strange, as the current practice besides in Poland requires the dissertation of anti-plagiate control before allowing it to continue. There are peculiar programs utilizing academic databases. It is besides common practice for publishers to check submitted works for plagiarism. I know that this is done by editors dealing with natural and method sciences, so the more they should do it from political science, sociology, gender, etc. If, in the course of Claudine Gay's career to date, she has not met with this kind of control and has now ended with instruction, this indicates the strong political attitude of this lady. Especially since Barack Obama himself intervened in her defense. It is Mr Ryszard Koziołk who does not head and does not compose about it, due to the fact that it would disturb the clear image he wants to paint. Meanwhile, it was the policy that put Mrs Claudine Gay in the position of rector, and so the change in political winds facilitated her dismissal.
It is worth referring to the tirade of the Political columnist on academic freedom. He devotes much of his text to writing specified obviouss as that discipline can only make in conditions of free exchange of thought and unfettered flow of ideas. It is undoubtedly true, only the connection of freedom of academic reasoning to the figure of Claudine Gay is rather opposed to prof. Ryszard Koziołek. The fact that this woman has been introduced to her advanced position despite deficiency of technological qualifications is simply a consequence and evidence of excessive influence on universities exercised by politics and awakened ideology. The task of Rector Gay was to act as Commissioner to introduce this ideology into academic life. For us in Poland, slogans specified as: critical racial theory, affirmative action or DEI do not mean anything. Sometimes only a awakened dean speaks of "menstruators" and demands tampons in men's toilets and saying "students" due to the fact that the usual word for students is offensive and does not include multiples. Unfortunately, with the change of government we can anticipate to intensify this madness besides in our country, despite declared academic freedom.

It may be worth an approximation of what D.E.I. stands for, due to the fact that it does not even have a Polish version of the website in Wikipedia yet. According to English Wikipedia, these are Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, or Diversity, equality and inclusion (Social). The means of implementation and its effects have led to a shorthand being developed late as Distractions, Errors and Incompetence (D.E.I.) - disturbances, errors and incompetence.
It is said that DEI is an organisational framework aimed at promoting "fair treatment and full participation of all people", in peculiar groups "which have been under-represented or discriminated in the past" on grounds of identity or disability. In DEI descriptions you can find quite a few beautifully sounding words, but the practice is depressing. Note the wording: in particular, groups that have been under-represented or discriminated in the past. For example, since black people in the US were under-represented and discriminated against in the past, they are now entitled to various privileges, while institutions and companies should have policies to compensate for past harm. due to Uncle Tom's misfortunes, we'll take you to college, or we'll put you in a position of responsibility, be a doctor or pilot. This leads to situations specified as those in American Airlines, whose aircraft have late had frequent landing problems and another skill-intensive situations due to poorly trained but highly diversified personnel. In turn, universities are flooded with increasingly little competent students. Additionally, there is simply a critical explanation of race (Critical Race Theory), according to which all whites are born contaminated by the stigma of racism and as specified require reeducation, and their racist products, including science, technology, law, etc., are tools of oppression that should be neutralized.
He did not explain to the ardent defender of academic freedom how to realize the actions of the awakened Commissioners of discipline at American universities and how they service the free movement of thought and the unfettered improvement of ideas. Examples of specified activities are increasing. For example, putting warnings on literary works in libraries of literature departments. In the absence of warning, an unwise reader could read Mark Twain's book and not only encounter archaic language and past social relations, but meet the word Negro there and be unfortunate. So all specified books should be appropriately marked so that future graduates of the literature department do not gotta deal with them. besides with descriptions of patriarchal societies in planet literature of the 19th century, due to the fact that they could endure shock and not survive. The feelings of students are protected, so you can postgraduate from literature without knowing the literature at all. Can students of literature with prof. Koziołk besides postgraduate without reading literature? For example, Sienkiewicz's trilogy, due to the fact that it reduces the function of women, depicts patriarchal society and many scenes of atrocities that could offend their delicate feelings? What about the another authors?
In general, no confrontation of ideas and views at American universities is now well seen. The university is to be a "safe space" in which no 1 will be exposed to views different from his own, to facts that are unpleasant to him or to activities that are besides difficult.
Over the last fewer years, many information has been available on the regulation of academic freedom in the US and the decline in the educational level. Firstly, “hard” sciences, requiring circumstantial cognition and skills, which cannot be masked by speech and repetition of right-sounding spells, were targeted. For example, mathematics has been considered to be over-masculinised and not available to minorities. After a more detailed examination Scientists stated that this was due to its formalisation, the requirements of strict evidence based on precisely formulated assumptions and this akin hateful blooms of patriarchal white society. Since this has nothing to do with DEI's spells, university teaching mathematics requires a extremist improvement by abandoning the requirements of accuracy and precision. Mathematics is expected to be more inclusive, so its accuracy must step distant from the ideology of equality, inclusion and diversity.
Similarly, this late happened with chemistry, which is besides hard for black communities. As a consequence of efforts to advance the diversity of black students at universities, this requires a simplification in the level of difficulty. Hence ideas of black-friendly chemistry. Somehow, no 1 can think of a better remedy for besides much chemistry to be preliminaries and to receive people who can realize it. Unfortunately, ideology is going in precisely the other direction, and DEI is only 1 tool for critical racial theory, according to which all sciences were created by white racists to sustain their dominance.
Therefore, teaching needs to be redefined to get free of those present and avoid creating further white privileges in the future. Allowing capable students to advance faster, for example, thanks to peculiar higher-level occupations is besides racist and serves to perpetuate divisions, so as specified it is unacceptable. The universities have created peculiar well-paid positions of officials from the DEI who watch over it. erstwhile upon a time, we had that word "resurrection." Let me mention that declared inclusion strangely does not include yellow Asians who are poorly represented at American universities, despite being known for their industriousness and learning skills. besides despite DEI and the creation of safe space, anti-Semitism spreads without hindrance. Let me quote a passage for Wikiwand:
https://www.wikiwand.com/en/Diversity,_equity,_and_inclusion
Historian Niall Ferguson called the DEI a political programme and ideology of the hierarchy, arguing that it should be considered that DEI was originally from 1984. It is simply a fresh Testament designed to accomplish precisely the other of those words. Not diversity, but uniformity of thought. Not justice, but deep wickedness and deficiency of due process for anyone who deviates from awakened ideology. As far as inclusion is concerned, the full process is to exclude anyone who does not want to adapt. Ferguson besides made direct comparisons between American universities in the 1920s and the politicization of German universities in the 1920s.
And just news from the last minute: 40 plagiarism charges against Harvard's head of diversity.

Harvard’s diversity chief hit with 40 plagiarism admissions in wake of Claudine Gay scandal: study
Apparently, the case isn't over. I'm certain the awakening commentators will find that there are DEI representatives who should be able to make ^C^V their jobs and make university careers in peace. It'll most likely end happily again with instruction.

When we read DEI and Critical Race explanation texts into the fresh language, we can begin to realize where the plagiarism drawings of the academics implementing them come from. That is not discipline or even politics. It is simply a fresh religion, and spiritual texts are not spoken in their own words. They can only be humbly and accurately copied. There's no place to think. Amen.
