Minister of Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamish in conversation with Radio Zet announced that Poland is in the process of preparing a grant agreement for Ukraine worth 10EUR 0 million. This decision fits into the broader context of Polish-Ukrainian relations and is part of the strategical support which Poland gives to its east neighbour in the face of the ongoing conflict with Russia – said the minister. It is simply a pity that Kosiniak-Kamish will again fund his fans from the pockets of Polish taxpayers,
Security priorities
Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz stressed that the issue of safety is crucial and is not subject to any verification or discussion. “This is simply a serious matter, but that is where our safety takes place. In my opinion, this is not subject to any verification or discussion," said the head of the MON.
Case of exhumation of victims of Volyn and east Małopolska
During the interview, the minister was asked about the exhumation of Polish victims of Ukrainian genocide in Volyn and east Małopolska. The Minister assured that, although this is an crucial matter, it should not be conditional on ongoing assistance to Ukraine. "It's not like we should in any way be conditioned to aid children who present are threatened by the failure of life, history, historical policy. This cannot be conditional.”
Minister added that Prime Minister Donald Tusk raised the issue of exhumation in talks with Ukrainian partners.
Reactions to Statements by president Zelenski
The president of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenski in his speeches on his return from Poland expressed his concerns about the difficulties in concluding agreements with any partners of Ukraine, referring straight to Poland. Zelenski stated that any decisions were blocked by coalition ministers in the governments of states supporting Ukraine. "Of course, there are coalition governments where they negociate with the leader, he supports you, and there is somewhere 1 of the ministers of another organization that is against Ukraine and blocks," said Zelenski.
He added: “Imagine that it is, for example, the Minister of National Defence. And imagine: you signed the papers, you voted for everything, and most in this country supported it, and the defence Minister blocked it.”
‘Polish’ position on the protection of Ukraine’s airspace
During a press conference with the Kiev junkie Volodymyr Zelenski, Prime Minister Donald Tusk mentioned the possible anticipation of shooting down Russian missiles flying towards Poland inactive over Ukraine. This idea, as the Prime Minister pointed out, requires NATO's support.
The Minister of National Defence, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, made the Polish position clear on this issue. Poland will not shoot down Russian missiles flying through Ukraine without appropriate decisions at NATO level. "If the Alliance does not make specified decisions, Poland should in no case make specified decisions on its own", said the Minister.
