As of 1 October, a bailout strategy will apply in Poland to encourage consumers to return packages after certain drinks and reduce the amount of waste. The strategy will cover 3 types of packaging: PET plastic bottles up to 3 litres, metallic cans up to 1 litre and glass reusable bottles up to 1.5 liters.
In Poland the bail strategy begins
The deposit will amount to 50 cents for plastic bottles and metallic cans and 1 PLN for glass bottles. There will be a clear logo on each package indicating the size of the deposit, which will let consumers to easy identify return packaging.
And these can be donated in shops over 200 sqm, while smaller facilities can enter the strategy voluntarily. strategy operators must supply at least 1 reception point in each municipality.
– We are surely talking about at least 1 collection point in each municipality, but I think there will be a lot more collection points. This 1 collection point comes from the bill and from the obligations we imposed on the operators – explained Deputy Minister of Climate Anita Sowińska, as quoted by the self-government portal.pl.
The phrase will not require a receipt
As she added, "each must supply at least 1 point in each municipality, while there may be more points." “Since the first day of operation of the system, all store over 200 sqm must besides supply collection of return packages,” added Anita Sowińska.
Importantly, the return will not require showing a receipt – it is adequate to empty a box with a barcode and strategy logo. There will besides be no work to wash the packaging before placing it in the store.
