The Confederacy applied for Ukrainian a, Dmytra Kuleby, as a individual non grata in Poland. The reason for this position is Kuleba's message at the Campus Polish Future, in which he referred to the alleged "Ukrainian territories". In the opinion of the Confederate Members, the words of Kuleba were “honorable” and deserve a decisive reaction from the Polish government.

Kuleby's speech at Campus Polska Future

During the gathering at Campus Poland, which took place in Olsztyn, Dmytro Kuleba participated in the discussion with the head of the Polish Ministry of abroad Affairs, Radosław Sikorski. The subject of the discussion was, among others, hard historical issues, which divide Poland and Ukraine for years. Answering 1 of these questions, Kuleba stated:

"You are aware of what Operation +Wisła+ was and you know that all these Ukrainians were forced out of Ukrainian territories to live in Olsztyn, among others".

In this way, the Ukrainian minister referred to Operation Wisła from 1947, during which thousands of Ukrainians were resettled to the current Poland.

Confederate words

In consequence to this statement, Confederate associate Michał Wawer estimated that Kuleby's words were the "last bell" for the Polish government to start a policy he claims "Ukrainians respect". Wawer stressed that Poland should start implementing a "force policy", based on the conclusion of transactions and hard enforcement of Polish national interests.

"If Ukraine wants something and needs something, it is not to refuse it, but to request in return respect for Polish national interests," said Mr Wawer.

Therefore, the Confederate calls for Dmytra Kuleby to be considered a individual non grata in Poland, which would be the first step towards changing abroad policy towards Ukraine.

Political consequence to Sikorski's deficiency of response

Mr Płaczek, another Confederate politician, added that "the individual who said specified shameful words in Poland should never be able to talk publically again." In his opinion, it is even more problematic that during the event, erstwhile Kuleba spoke these words, next to him was the head of the Polish Ministry of abroad Affairs, Radosław Sikorski, who, as Płaczek noted, “did nothing” and did not respond to these controversial statements.

Volyn and the EU

Confederate politicians were besides asked about the earlier words of the Deputy Prime Minister and the head of the MON, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, who stated in July 2023 that Ukraine could not be admitted to the European Union until Warsaw and Kiev solved the issue of the Volyn massacre. In consequence to this question, Mr Płaczek noted that specified comments did not have a real impact on the change of Polish policy towards Ukraine.

"Kosiniak-Kamish's message implied that we want Ukraine to become a part of the EU," commented Płaczek.

Summary

The words of Kiev and Dmytra Kuleby during the Campus Polish Future caused a storm among Confederate politicians who request a strong reaction from the Polish government. In their opinion, the message of the Ukrainian Minister of abroad Affairs was not only ‘honeful’ but besides a reason to start a new, tougher policy towards Ukraine. The proposal to recognise Kuleba as a persona non grata is, according to the Confederate, the first step in this direction.
