It is the Polish authorities who should do everything to explain the issue of KPO funds. According to European Commission spokesperson Maciej Beretecki, the ruling authorities have all the instruments to check and explain the irregularities.
Brussels' intervention, however, is not excluded: “From what the Prime Minister announced, the Polish authorities will take action to explain suspicions” – we read in the Berestecki Communication cited by PAP – “When the government's actions prove ineffective, then we will intervene.”
The EC Ombudsman besides announced that the Commission is waiting for the effects of fraud control, and that any State which had funds from the NPO has in its contract provisions on the principles of monitoring the granting of funds.
