Icelandic Prime Minister Kristrún Mjöll Frostadóttir announced a referendum on EU membership. The decision can give impetus to the debate on the EU in Norway as well. In the event that Iceland is in favour of membership, there may be crucial consequences for the functioning of the EEA (European economical Area) and EFTA (European Free Trade Association).
