In the spring of 2023, Danish defence minister Troels Lund Poulsen announced the transfer of the first batch of Leopard 1 tanks ([of the full pot of about 100 pieces](https://defence24.pl/strong-arms/dunski-minister-na-ukraine-moze-traduk-okolo-100-czolgow-leopard-1) to Ukraine for the beginning of May. The costs of their purchase, renovation, training were to be covered by Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands. Over time, the cart pool increased to more than 130 (now it is over 200), but the deliveries of the first units to Ukraine continued until July. They were to prove to be in a better method condition than 100 tanks stored for many years in warehouses owned by Flensburger Fahrzeugbau Gesellschaft (FFG).
