AMSTERDAM- KLM Royal Dutch Airlines (KL) has launched direct flights between Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS) and Hyderabad Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (HYD).

The inaugural flight, operated on September 2, 2025, marks Hyderabad as the fourth Indian city in the airline’s growing network, joining Delhi (DEL), Mumbai (BOM), and Bengaluru (BLR).

The new route strengthens air connectivity between Europe and southern India, offering three weekly flights with a Boeing 777-200ER.

Both the arrival in Hyderabad and the departure to Amsterdam were celebrated with cultural events and official ceremonies attended by KLM executives, airport authorities, and invited partners.

KLM Amsterdam to Hyderabad Flights

KLM’s (KL) decision to launch direct flights to Hyderabad (HYD) comes at a time when travel demand between India and Europe is steadily rising.

Over the last few years, passenger numbers between Amsterdam and India have nearly doubled.

Hyderabad’s inclusion provides Dutch and European travelers with direct access to a fast-growing business hub in southern India, while Indian passengers benefit from seamless one-stop connections to Europe, North America, and beyond via Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS).

The airline’s delegation, led by KLM Chief Operating Officer Maarten Stienen, emphasized the importance of India as both an economic partner and a key market for future growth.

Stienen highlighted Hyderabad’s increasing role in global trade and technology, positioning the city as a natural addition to KLM’s expanding route map.

Flight Schedule and Details

KLM will operate 3 nonstop flights each week on the Amsterdam to Hyderabad route, scheduled on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

The service is operated with a Boeing 777-200ER, configured to accommodate different passenger needs:

  • 35 seats in World Business Class for premium travelers
  • 24 seats in Premium Comfort Class for added space and service
  • 229 seats in Economy Class for standard travel

This balanced configuration allows the airline to cater to a mix of business, leisure, and connecting passengers, further enhancing accessibility between Europe and India.

Hyderabad’s Strategic Importance

Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana, has a population exceeding 7 million and is recognized as one of India’s leading business cities.

Often called the “Pharmaceutical Capital of India,” it hosts more than 800 pharmaceutical companies and plays a vital role in global drug manufacturing and research.

In addition, multinational technology firms from the United States and Europe maintain large operational centers in the city, making it a significant IT outsourcing destination.

Hyderabad Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (HYD) is currently India’s fourth-busiest airport, after Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, and continues to show rapid growth in both domestic and international passenger volumes.

Its strategic location in southern India, combined with strong domestic feeder services from IndiGo (6E), strengthens its role as a gateway for international business and logistics.

India Europe Air Travel

Beyond tourism, the launch of the Amsterdam–Hyderabad connection is expected to enhance trade, academic exchange, and investment opportunities.

The Netherlands is among India’s top trading partners within the European Union, with strong ties in pharmaceuticals, technology, and manufacturing.

Direct air links will facilitate greater business collaboration and make travel more efficient for professionals and entrepreneurs.

In addition, cultural connections are expected to deepen, as easier travel fosters academic cooperation, tourism exchanges, and diaspora engagement.

Hyderabad’s expanding role as a global hub aligns with KLM’s strategic focus on strengthening long-haul connectivity.
