During his visit, Jarosław Kaczyński encouraged residents of Dąbrowa Białostocka to vote for Law and Justice in elections to the European Parliament. During the gathering Marcin Kleczkowski, erstwhile head of the PiS structures in Augustowski district, raised the subject of local elections. He criticised the fact that many years of PiS members were not allowed on electoral lists due to the cateries and layouts, while on the lists were people expelled disciplinaryly from the organization by Kaczyński.
That's 4 people. Among another things, Mr Dariusz Ostapowicz was the president of the city council, who was thrown out of the occupation 4 times. – noted Kleczkowski. He besides asked why this is happening. He besides added that he was “a simple construction worker.”
Jarosław Kaczyński stated that the interviewer does not look like a construction worker, although he may indeed be. Then, referring to the farmers protesting, he mentioned the village almost 70 years ago, noting that it is now a completely different, better world. Kaczyński admitted that he did not know the details of the case, but noted that for a long time there had been disputes in Augustów, which are hard to see from Warsaw.
He stressed that the party's goal, like any political party, was to gain power, which active various wrongs and errors, including its own. He apologized for it and offered to talk about it after the election campaign. Marcin Kleckowski mentioned that he was already at the organization office in Nowogrodzka.
Who is Marcin Kleckowski?
According to Radio Białystok website, Marcin Kleczkowski was a proxy for the territory PiS structures in Augustów for 10 years. He served as president of the Augustów City Council and manager of the Provincial Road Traffic Centre in Suwałki. For this reason, his absence from the electoral lists in this year's local elections amazed many PiS activists.
In 2020, PiS councillors took his position distant from him, resulting from an interior conflict in local organization structures. Paweł Wnukowski, the current leader of the PiS structures in Augustów, in an interview with the regional station stated that Kleczkowski acted to harm the party's image, opposing the decisions of the office of the PiS.
