Initial reports said a Su-27-type fighter crashed. Only later did it turn out that it was a much newer machine, i.e. a two-seat Su-30SM from Su-27, belonging to the 159th Guards of the Hunting Regiment. The device made a training flight over Russian Karelia and was not expected to carry weapons. The plane crashed into the ground in a forest in the Prioneży region close Petrozavodsk, close the local airport. The fall did not origin additional losses on the ground. The crew did not save themselves, although there are no details as to whether or not they were catapulted or killed in the cabin. So far there's no information on the causes of the crash.
