Death, however, is the experience of an end
and has something of annihilation –
I must teardrop distant my ‘I’ hope,
To stand over annihilation...
And then they cry everywhere, and they proceed to cry:
“You are going crazy, Paul, you are going crazy!”
– here I am struggling with myself
and I conflict with so many people for my hope—
My hope does not confirm in me
no memory of his own,
the hope in the passing mirror plays nothing,
only your Paschal Passage
combined with the evidence of my deepest being. (part)
