By taking over the office of the president of the Republic of Poland by the will of the Nation, I solemnly curse that I will stay faithful to the provisions of the Constitution, I will defender the integrity of the Nation, independency and safety of the State, and the welfare of the Homeland and the well-being of citizens will always be the highest order for me. So aid me God – said Karol Nawrocki during the National Assembly meeting, which began at 10 a.m.
The solemn gathering of the National Assembly was attended, among others, by outgoing president Andrzej Duda with his wife Agata Kornhauser-Duda, erstwhile presidents Aleksander Kwasniewski and Bronisław Komorowski, Prime Minister Donald Tusk, members of the government, erstwhile Prime Minister Beata Szydło, representatives of the Church hierarchy and military command – including the primate of Poland Wojciech Polak and the chief of the General Staff of General Wiesław Kukuła – as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps.
In his inaugural message, president Nawrocki stressed that the result of the second circular of elections of 1 June clearly showed that citizens are looking forward to the implementation of pre-election declarations, want to have the right to choose the head of state in an atmosphere of freedom and will not submit to political manipulation.
He pointed out that the consequence of the elections one more time illustrated that the president should be primarily and only the voice of Polish citizens. “As president I intend to be this voice,” he declared.
He besides added that the public is demanding the fulfilment of the electoral commitments he included in Plan 21. He assured that he would strive with determination to implement them, with the aim of making Poland a dynamic state of development, large investments and strategical projects specified as the Central Communication Port, modern road infrastructure and the improvement of Polish ports.
After the ceremony in the Sejm, Karol Nawrocki and his wife will attend Mass for their homeland in the Archaeister of St. John, and then in the Royal Castle will presume symbolic sovereignty over the highest state decorations. After the authoritative entrance to the Presidential Palace, at 4.30 p.m. at Piłsudski Square there will be celebrations related to taking over the Polish Armed Forces.
