The large Orchestra of Christmas aid (WOŚP) is approaching the 33rd final, focusing on the wellness of children. Karol Nawrocki, supported by the PiS presidential candidate, alternatively of supporting the WEDP, traditionally collaborates with Caritas. Why does Nawrocki stay behind this nationwide initiative?
Who's Charles Nawrocki?
Let us remind that Karol Nawrocki is simply a historian, publicist and state authoritative who serves as president of the Institute of National Memory. Born in Gdansk in 1983, he studied past at the University of Gdańsk. Before taking office in the IPN, Nawrocki was the manager of the Museum of the Second planet War in Gdańsk. His actions in this function were controversial, mainly in the context of changes in the communicative of exhibitions.
In 2024, Nawrocki was presented as a presidential candidate for Law and Justice. His run focuses on conventional values, household support and cooperation with Catholic organizations, which explains his commitment to Caritas.

Although WOŚP attracts the attention of many politicians, especially left-wing liberal politicians, Karol Nawrocki does not plan to engage in its finale. Nawrocki's spokeswoman, Emilia Wierzbicka, stressed that the candidate intended to support Caritas, in accordance with her erstwhile practice. This decision forms part of his political strategy, which focuses on ecclesiastical institutions, avoiding initiatives of a civic nature, specified as WOŚP.
However, this position can be interpreted differently. For his followers, this means faithfulness to the values he represents, while opponents may see it as a deficiency of support for an initiative focused on medical assistance for children.
It is besides worth remembering, however, that the WOŚP prepared a ambiguous action “Winning with sepsis!” – there appeared a heart that was deceptively akin to the Civic Platform – it could be perceived as political support. In addition,
Should politicians engage in the WOŚP?
Annual WOŚP finals are not only collections, but besides extended media events. Politicians have been happy to take part in it for years, passing on various items for auction. Prime Minister Donald Tusk or president of Warsaw Rafał Trzaskowski supported the WŚP in erstwhile years, and their engagement attracted the attention of the media.
In the case of Karol Nawrocki, the deficiency of support for the WOŚP constitutes a political declaration and a worldview. Restricting to Caritas may consequence from the belief that church institutions respond better to needs in line with his social vision.

Why do charity choices matter?
The choice of the institution supported by the policy is not accidental. These decisions reflect the views and values the candidate wants to promote. As a bottom-up citizens' initiative, the WESP symbolizes, although little and less, social solidarity and the desire to aid regardless of the outlook. In turn, Caritas, powerfully associated with the Church, represents tradition and cooperation with spiritual institutions.
Karol Nawrocki, as the president of the IPN and a presidential candidate, frequently focuses on working with Catholic organizations. His deficiency of engagement in the WOŚP can be perceived as a distance from events considered besides "neutral" worldview.
