Karol Nawrocki officially as a candidate for president of Poland

On Sunday, during the convention in the Kraków hall of Sokół, it was announced that Dr. Karol Nawrocki would be a candidate for president of Poland with the support of Law and Justice. This event brought together representatives of social, technological and economical circles from all over the country, as well as leading PiS politicians, including organization leader Jarosław Kaczyński. The decision launched a fresh phase of the election run before the May elections in 2025.

Decision announced at the solemn convention

The convention began at 4:00 p.m. and already from the very beginning maintained an atmosphere full of tension and anticipation. In his speech Jarosław Kaczyński emphasized the importance of next year's presidential elections for the future of Poland. The election of Dr. Karol Nawrocki, the head of the Institute of National Memory, was presented as a consequence to the request for a partyless and competent presidency to combine different environments.

Nawrocki, known for his work to commemorate the past of Poland, thanked for his trust and promised to act in a spirit of dialog and responsibility. His candidacy has been discussed for respective weeks, but he has inactive late competed for the nomination with Przemysław Czarnek, erstwhile Minister of Education.

I am ready to become president due to the fact that I am with you all my life, I am with you, I know Poles and I realize your needs. Yes, I am 1 of you, I want to be your president, due to the fact that I know and realize that Poland, in order to be able to be, must be great. due to the fact that we must defend Poland, we must defend our values, not let us to take distant our symbols and limit our sovereignty. I want to be your president due to the fact that I have worked and worked hard my full life, just as you, dear Poles, have worked hard and you must have a president who will besides work hard for you – said Nawrocki during the convention.

He thanked the Citizen Committee and the United Right camp with Jarosław Kaczyński at the head.

Thank you for your trust and, above all, thank you for the work that allowed for the unity building to support a candidate who has always been unpartisan, a citizen candidate," he added.

Nawrocki considered this decision as an expression of maturity and concern for today's divided Poland. "As a nation, we must yet undertake the effort to put an end to the Polish-Polish war" he stated and informed that the end of this war is his first promise and proposal for all Poles.

Wide competition in the elections for president of the Republic of Poland

Karol Nawrocki joins a group of candidates who have already announced their start in the presidential election. On Saturday, the Civic Coalition selected Rafał Trzaskowski as its candidate. The current president of Warsaw won 74.75 percent of the votes in the interior primaries of KO, defeating Radosław Sikorski.

The presidential race will besides be attended by Szymon Hołownia from Poland 2050, Sławomir Mentzen from the Confederation and Marek Jakubiak representing the Free Republicans. Competition is expected to be fierce, and key issues specified as abroad policy, the economy and environmental protection are likely to dominate the upcoming campaign.
