As the decisive phase of the 2025 presidential run approaches, the character of Karol Nawrocki – the candidate of Law and Justice – has become increasingly emotional. In the program “The Most crucial Questions” on Polsat News, Politologist Prof. Antoni Dudek presented a series of bitter reflections about Nawrocki's political path, his chances of election and uncomfortable threads, which may yet come out before the second round.

Karol Nawrocki: A fortunate or political bulldozer?
Karol Nawrocki's career – inactive in the fall of 2024 almost unnoticed in political space – is now at the very centre of the game for the highest office in the state. In Antoni Dudek's opinion, it is not so much the effect of determination as a combination of favorable circumstances. "Nawrock's Karl is lucky. His career resembles Nicodemus Dysma. The plexus of favorable circumstances promoted the individual who in the first scene became a candidate for Prime Minister. Now we are in this scene” said the professor.
According to a political scientist, this fast promotion should rise serious questions about the skills and motivation of the candidate. Nawrocki – as he noted – was marginalized even in PiS. Today, on the another hand, after the first circular of presidential elections, he becomes a "light favourite".
Controversy, singles and squares
However, the biggest reservations about Nawrock's candidacy do not concern his electoral strategy, but moral issues. ‘At the minute a large part of society believes that Karol Nawrocki does not have simple moral qualifications to be a presidential candidate" – Dudek noticed.
Although the most loud subject was the case of the flat in Gdańsk, which Nawrocki yet donated to charity, the prof. has no uncertainty that this is just the beginning. “I know so many rumors about Karol Nawrocki that if only half of them were confirmed, we would have a quadruple studio.” – he said.
However, Dudek refused to disclose the details. He noted that the verification of specified information belongs to journalists. He himself limited himself to political evaluation: "Last December I said Karol Nawrocki is 1 of the most dangerous people who entered Polish politics. And that's what we see.It’s okay. ”
Trzaskowski and the curse of the poll leader
Rafał Trzaskowski, who in the first circular was identified as a strong leader, present must revise the strategy. "The problem was what I call the curse of being a poll leader. It sleeps and makes the staff unactive” – assessed Dudek.
The results of the first circular showed that the difference between the candidates was minimal, and the right – contrary to erstwhile forecasts – mobilised a crucial part of the electorate. Trzaskowski is faced with a choice today: to build a affirmative program or to play harder and invert the opponent.
The prof. has no doubt: "Trzaskowski should say what he wants to do as president and how it differs from Donald Tusk. Nawrocki can be criticized by journalists. He should not heat it."
Family images and hidden power struggle
Dudek pointed out another thread – an expanding function that can be played by candidate spouses. "There will most likely not be a debate between them, but the eyes of many media will now focus on this" – he noted.
However, the most amazing in the professor's conversation were suggestions about the future inside the Law and Justice. “Here president Kaczyński may be surprised” – He said. According to Dudek, if Nawrocki becomes president, his first goal will be to destabilise the Tusk government, which could lead to early parliamentary elections.
But it's only the beginning. "We do not know what the condition of Kaczyński's wellness will be in a year or two. And a man grew up around him, who very powerfully supports Nawrocki – Przemysław Czarnek” – said the professor. "Let us imagine that Nawrocki thinks: as I will be president, I want a prime minister with whom there is chemistry."
On the question of whether the PiS candidate might want to “college” Jarosław Kaczyński, he replied: “It's possible. I'm not saying I'm right. But it's a game that's just beginning."
