Complementary elections

W On 16 March there will be a supplementary election to the Polish legislature in territory 33, comprising 10 districts of the city. Committees shall have until 5 February to submit their candidates.

The Citizen Coalition promotes Monika Piątkowska, who in the past was associated with the SLD, PSL and Poland 2050, and presently serves as president of the Grain-Past Chamber.

Complementary elections to the legislature in Krakow will be held on 16 March, after the resignation of Senator Bogdan Klich. PiS supports Mateusz Małodziński, who runs from the “For Krakow” committee. The election was besides announced by Ewa Sładek (Together), Bogusław Sonik (PO) and Gniewomir Rokosz-Kuczyński (Confederation).

“No 1 asked anyone here”

During the press briefing, Szymon Holownia was asked if he would support her candidacy under the alleged legislature Pact, which assumes that coalition parties do not put up competitive candidates in the legislature elections, played in the single-mandate system.

Hołownia emphasized that the legislature Pact made sense erstwhile coalitions jointly made decisions about which organization and in which territory would exhibit their candidate. As he stated:

This legislature pact was in force at least a fewer months ago, erstwhile there were supplementary elections in Włocławek erstwhile Senator Kukucki became the president of this town. Then the Left set up her candidate, asked her opinion.

The hoarding home then added:

No 1 asked anyone for their opinion here, the PO did not ask anyone about the place in Krakow, so the conclusion is simple: the legislature pact is not valid. We will not support Ms Monika Piątkowska as Poland 2050 for certain as a candidate for Senator.

Hołownia pointed out that Poland 2050 considered the anticipation of presenting its own candidate or supporting another, and both options are inactive being considered. However, he emphasized that they would not support the candidacy of Monika Piątkowska. He besides added that he understood the situation as the declaration of the legislature pact by the PO in Krakow towards another coalitions, and Poland 2050 takes note of this.

A grudge, but besides a surprise

The words of Marshal Holowna met with a negative reaction of the Krakow Civic Platform. Despite first opposition to the Piątkowska candidacy, the organization officially declared its support and started collecting signatures.

According to Onet, the PO considers Holowna's statements to be "irresponsible" and "shared coalition", peculiarly in the context of the upcoming elections that may affect the result of the presidential race.

On the another hand, Piątkowska's candidacy amazed the Kraków PO activists who had previously recommended six another candidates, recognising them as more recognizable in Krakow. It was unofficially reported that any PO representatives from Krakow would not collect signatures of support for a candidate named by the national board.
