The Canadian Army presently lacks multi-guided rocket launchers, based on indirect and direct fire only on mortar and towed haubic solutions. Under Long-Range Precision Strike, it is planned to change this state of affairs and dramatically increase the ability to attack land targets over long distances. According to Ottawa Citizen, the value of the contract for the sale to Canada of the launchers themselves, along with auxiliary equipment, support packages, spare parts and ammunition is expected to be $5 billion and offered under the FMS procedure.
