During his Sunday speech in Lublin, Jarosław Kaczyński referred to the controversial words of Grzegorz Braun, the Euro MP of the Confederation of the Polish Crown. It is his message on July 10 – the day before the anniversary of the crime in Jedwabne – in which he questioned the authenticity of the Auschwitz camp, calling gas chambers Facebook.
What Braun is doing is hitting our most simple interests. Saying that there was no Holocaust is simply a shameful historical lie, but it besides destroys our relation with the United States said Jarosław Kaczyński. He added that specified actions were not only morally reprehensible, but besides highly harmful, and he felt that they could be part of a thoughtful strategy.
The PiS leader pointed out that the current administration in the United States is powerfully connected with judaic environments, which further increases the importance of the consequences of specified statements.
Disgrace for Survivors
The manager of the Auschwitz Museum, Piotr Cywiński, issued a peculiar message in consequence to the words of Grzegorz Braun. As he stressed, the message by the MEP, in which he questions the existence of gas chambers in Auschwitz, is not only an example of negationism, but besides wordcontempt for survivors and their families.
Piotr Cywiński powerfully pointed out that questioning the existence of gas chambers is not only an expression of anti-Semitism and the spread of hatred, but besides an act prohibited by Polish law. He announced that a announcement would be made immediately to the D.A. The manager of the museum besides addressed the media with an appeal for the solidarity of excluding Grzegorz Braun from public space.
Is Braun going to be punished?
In May this year, the European Parliament waived the immunity of Grzegorz Braun in connection with the investigation of the spiritual abuse of a group of persons in the Sejm and with another incidents, including the disruption of prof. Jan Grabowski's lecture on the Holocaust at the German Historical Institute in 2023.
Last week, lawyer General Adam Bodnar filed another motion to waive the immunity of the European Confederation. This time it concerns respective criminal proceedings: the demolition of a seminar exhibition dedicated to LGBT+ community in June 2025, the talk of the organizers of the action Windkils in April during a tv presidential debate, stealing the flag of Ukraine from the City Office in Biała Podlaska and the flag of the European Union from the Ministry of manufacture in Katowice.
Parallelly, the investigative unit of the Institute of National Memory initiated proceedings concerning the public and incompatible crimes of genocide committed in the German Nazi concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau.
