Józef Wieczorek: "50th anniversary of March 68′ – you can get angry" - from the archive
date:13 March 2018 Editor: Agnes

Another anniversary of March '68. This time circular – 50th, so it is loudly media and politically. March ’68 was recognised as the National Social Movement Against Communism, as a symbol of the road to freedom and a symbol of solidarity, as stressed by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

The Sejm, the president and the Minister of discipline and Higher Education took the floor. Social opposition to communist dictatorship, censorship and political persecution, the repression of authorities against demonstrators and the wave of anti-Semitic cleansings, including in academic environments, were highlighted.
Somehow it was not clearly emphasized that student demonstrations were not anti-Semitic, due to the fact that they were an expression of solidarity with 2 students expelled from the university (UW) (Adam Michnik, Henry Szlajfer) of judaic origin, who were not expelled from Poland, but in it, in alleged free Poland, made careers, and Adam Michnik was even 1 of the designers of the 3rd Polish Republic, as super-editor of Gazeta Wyborcza, but without expressing solidarity with those who demonstrated in their/his defence.
I have individual memories due to the fact that in demonstrations in Michnik's defence I took part in 1968, and in 2004 in Gazeta Wyborcza, me – exiled like a dog from a university (UJ) as part of the cleaning of 1986/87 – brutally attacked (the then Rector of the University of Warsaw, this university where I studied and demonstrated in the defence of Adam Michnik) without the anticipation of defence (JW Blog) performing censorship, against which in 1968 we shouted “Press lies” and what became current and alleged free Poland in relation to Adam Michnik's press!
In my defense, against the lies of the Wyborcza Newspaper, no 1 from the "Solidarity" environment stood – solidarity was not there! The university authorities who banished me have shown only solidarity with lying and violent attack.
As a consequence of March '68, respective 1000 Poles of judaic origin left Poland and president Duda after 50 years, saying: 'And to those who were then driven out, and to the families of those who died, I want to say: delight forgive the Republic, delight forgive the Poles, delight forgive the Poles, forgive Poland for having done this shameful act'.
And then, "What a pity, what a failure today's Republic suffers, that all of you, those who have gone away, those who may have died in 1968, that you are not with us today. That you are the elite of intelligence, but in another countries. That you are successful men respected, but in another countries. That your creativity, your technological achievements, that your wonderful achievements did not go to the Republic's account. What a pity! How sorry I am!"www.president.pl) "Dear Members, I ask them to forgive Poland, for the Republic, for those who did so."
The point is that no 1 was killed at the time, and those who left Poland did so on the wave of anti-Semitic nag, organized by communist factions. not by the authorities of the Republic, due to the fact that these were in London at the time erstwhile in Warsaw there were the authorities of PRLu - subordinate Moscow.
He besides forgot to add that among the departures There were besides those who should stand for their communist excesses in the Polish People's Republic before the courts of Free Poland and not stand, Despite the BOLOs sent after them (e.g. Stefan Michnik or Helena Wolińska) and any were standing in lecture halls of Polish universities in III Poland, where they were honored despite these excesses (e.g. Zygmunt Bauman). You shouldn't regret specified an "elite"!
Minister of discipline and Higher Education - Deputy Prime Minister Jarosław Gowin said: “The effect of March 1968 was to break the continuity of Polish science. Hundreds, if not thousands of judaic scientists, emigrated from Poland." (www.pap.pl)
It follows that so far no number of scientists had left and what losses we suffered. The Minister did not explain what it meant to break the continuity of science.
It is crucial to remember that at the time many Polish scientists could only dream of abroad trips, and specified trips were mostly a technological gain, the fact that mainly for departures, not for Poland.
Unfortunately, these generalizations of both the president and the Minister - Deputy Prime Minister Govin referring to science/scientists, should become the subject of investigation and technological conferences, due to the fact that they do not give the fact about the consequences of March '68 for discipline in Poland, which I wrote about many times and besides told the minister. Uneffectively (JW Blog).
I besides unsuccessfully demanded to know another academic cleansings – those from the 1980s, whether it's from the ministry (JW Blog; JW Blog) or IPN (Science Mirror; discipline Mirror) about which 1 does not want to speak, or speaks and writes on the level of fairy-scripting alternatively than the discipline with which continuity in those dark 1980s (not rather in 1968) was broken.
Last year was the 30th and 35th anniversary of successive political waves of academic cleansing after the introduction of martial law and before the alleged systemic transformation, and neither the president, nor the minister, nor the rectors of the university from which academic teachers were expelled - uncomfortable for the strategy of lies, for the leadership of the nation - took no votes, the truths about these cleansings were not presented, They didn't apologize for the excesses.
You gotta remember that In 1968, many of those who should not be in colleges were besides removed from the university, due to its harmful engagement in the installation of the communist strategy in Poland – the lie system. However, they are sorry that they did not act after "exile" for Polish science.
Those who had a moral backbone and lived with their heads raised were besides removed. Prof. Wiktor Jassem, a judaic scientist at the UAM in 1968 refused to read a resolution directed against Zionists. He had judaic roots, so he would read something in a way against himself. “He replied that it was inappropriate for him to read it. The following day, he was summoned by the PZPR University Committee and suspended in classes, and was later dismissed from his work at UAM. Despite his anti-Semitic assault, Prof. Jassem did not leave Poland. He worked at the Polish Academy of Sciences.” "Antisionist petition with order to read was handed to prof. Jassem by Jacek Fisiak, then secretary of the PZPR plant committee at the Faculty of phylology of the UAM" (Science Mirror).
As you can see, prof. Jassem was repressed, expelled from the university, but not from Poland.
And what did Jacek Fisiak do? Fisiak's doing an instant discipline career. In 1971 – at the age of 35 – he became a professor. In the state of war, he is the manager of the institute, from which respective employees are removed, and in the era of purgatory of the year 86/88 already as the Rector of the UAM expelled over 80 technological staff (Science Mirror) and then - already deserved for cleaners - in times of alleged transformation includes the portfolio of the Minister of National Education.
The '80s were many times larger than the '68s, What not only does Fisiak's "deeds" prove. There was besides a bigger academic exodus from Poland and more exiles from the university, sometimes for life.
And what? – almost full silence.
A These were political cleansings conducted under the baton of SB and PZPR, which resulted in hundreds, if not thousands of scientists, many without the anticipation of returning, besides in alleged free Poland, being expelled from the university (or at least from posts/stages).
So far is not even willing to survey the technological nature and effects of these cleanings on discipline in Poland. Etat historical researchers, sometimes in the function of fairy-scripters or even past forgers (Józef Wieczorek Citizens' Website; JW Blog) That's how they survey this problem and present it so that sometimes the fact doesn't come out.
I have been writing about this for years, but the academic community/rectors are silent, and the minister is building a fresh discipline building in Poland without even wanting to know the foundations of this building!
Academic Solidarity besides does not want to know what happened to its members in the dark 1980s, and the Kombatan organizations do not want to know the losses of the war of Jaruzel-Polish (JW Blog).
However, he pointed out the problem composer Vincenty of Krakow, sacrificing the oratory to the unbreakable, cursed, victims of communist academic cleansing.
Maybe Polish universities, and above all, The Jagiellonian University, active in the communist academic ore of the 1980s and heroically defending its dark pages of past so far, and late active in the promotion of sex and reincarnation alternatively of the search for truth, in expiation will organize in its walls the execution of this oratory, which may bring us closer to the fact and reconstruct academic continuity in Free Poland.
