The territory Attorney's Office in Olsztyn wants the National Prosecutor to consider bringing a cassation to the ultimate Court in the case of Paweł K., a Łódź lawyer convicted of causing a fatal road accident. Investigators dispute any of the findings of the appeal court, including the assessment that the tragedy was the consequence of the driver's involuntary action.
At first instance, the court sentenced a lawyer to 2 years in prison and a five-year ban on driving. In March 2026, however, the territory Court softened the conviction to a year and a half in prison and shortened the ban on driving to 4 years. That's the decision the D.A. wants to review.
Paul K. for any time avoided the execution of the punishment and was not detained until May. It is presently available to law enforcement authorities besides in connection with a separate investigation into drug offences. In this case, he and his wife are facing 10 years in prison.
It's been breathtaking for years. In September 2021, the luxury Mercedes led by Paul K. collided head-on with a car traveled by 2 women. Both died instantly. Shortly after the accident, the lawyer described the victim's vehicle as "carcases on wheels". The additional controversy is that traces of cocaine have been detected in the lawyer’s body after the accident. However, its concentration was besides low to charge driving under the influence of drugs. Paul K. himself claimed that he did not consciously usage this substance.
