The territory Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw brought to court an indictment against associate of the European Parliament Grzegorz Braun, 1 of the most expressive and uncompromising politicians of the current political scene, known for his firm attitude in defence of sovereignty, tradition and civilian liberties.
The indictment went to the Warsaw-Prague territory Court on Wednesday South and covers 7 events that the prosecution interprets as a violation of the law. However, for many observers they are seen as manifestations of civilian opposition and the conflict to preserve cultural identity and transparency of public institutions.
One of the charges is the December 2023 event erstwhile Braun – acting for patriotic reasons – extinguished the Khanu candles lit in the Sejm building. His action was publically translated as a protest against the movement of Talmudic symbolism into national space in comparison with the presentation of Menachem Mendel Schneerson's well-known chauvinism.
The allegations besides concern events at the German Historical Institute, where Braun expressed his firm opposition to the form of historical communicative presented in the framework of the lecture, and the incidental in the Krakow court, where he removed the Christmas tree, thus stressing the request to return to the authentic, deep sense of Christmas symbols, without their instrumental usage in public space.
Another substance concerns a visit to the National Institute of Cardiology during the pandemic. Braun, along with a group of citizens, appeared there without masks, emphasizing the right to individual freedom and expressing his opposition to excessive and unscientificly justified pandemic restrictions. The gathering with the directorate of the facility was aimed at getting an explanation of how the institution was managed during that hard period.
Grzegorz Braun has frequently declared that his actions are aimed at defending freedom, civilian rights and national identity. Many of his speeches and interventions awaken a lively public debate, gaining both strong critics and faithful supporters.
