Jerzy Kwasniewski Ordo Iuris: We won in the conflict for children, but this is not the end of the war

Ladies and gentlemen,
the starting vacation ends the school year, which was the arena of unprecedented ideological warfare, caused by Donald Tusk and Barbara Nowacka. First, they launched an attack on the patriotic foundations of the school program. They then hit spiritual lessons to yet effort to implement compulsory, vulgar sex education in each school. Everything was accompanied by organisational and legal chaos. And the victims were children, their schools, teachers, and the peace of our families.
Despite all the power of the government, we have been very successful in this conflict. The most crucial was the winning conflict against compulsory vulgar sex education, introduced to Polish schools under the coat of innocently sounding "health education"
The coming months are a time of peculiar mobilization and work. Through a mass information campaign, we request to convince parents to release their children from “health education”. Only in this way will the object not origin irreparable damage, and in time it will not become compulsory. At the same time, our experts will support efforts to reconstruct spiritual lessons to their place. The government did not recognise the Constitutional Court's judgement and continues to attack catechists and wants to make religion a museum for marginalized Catholics at school.
However, it is worth mentioning in a fewer words what we have already managed to do together, as this gives hope for the success of further efforts. As a consequence of our actions to date, Barbara Nowack was forced into a partial temporary retreat. Newsweek alarmed that "Ordo Iuris had tricked Nowacka". The minister herself – although initially declared rudely "I am very sorry, but I don't care what hurts Ordo Iuris" – was yet forced to change and recognise "sexual education" as a voluntary object.
When the ministry announced the preliminary assumptions of the program of the subject – including teaching about masturbation, homosexuality, “transgence” and abortion – we prepared (with many experts) a more than 100-page, comprehensive analysis, revealing the actual face of “health education”.
To strengthen the bottom-up opposition against depravity, we supported the creation of the Coalition for Defence of the Polish School (KROPS), which was rapidly joined by a 100 organizations. Our experts met with parents and teachers in respective twelve cities and towns.
We have prepared a brochure "Sexual Education vs. Parents' Rights" and launched an online petition "Stop Sexualizing Children" signed by more than 46,000 people. Finally, together with KROPS, we organized a large manifestation of parents, grandparents, teachers, education and education specialists and thousands of Poles afraid about the future of our children. The event was reported by the biggest Polish media and tv TRWAM and tv Republic broadcast it live. The material on the picket was aired in TVN Facts, Teleexpress and TVP's main news services.
But we must not halt there. Minister Nowacka does not hide that "health education" will yet be mandatory. It means that the key fight for the future of our children is just ahead.
That's why we launched the online petition “We compose Children” and prepared a model message about the release of a kid from “health education”. The writing is necessary, due to the fact that although the subject is not mandatory, the construction of the alleged parental consent to the participation of the kid was accepted. The time for making a message is limited! The parent must submit them by September 25.
The Bureau of the Polish Episcopal Conference besides invites the boycott "health education". In a letter addressed to your parents, the bishops wrote: “You must not accept the systemic depravity of your children, which is to be conducted under the pretext of alleged wellness education. For the sake of upbringing and salvation, we urge you not to consent to your children's participation in these demoralizing activities."
On the Ordo Iuris website, we have already published our latest guide for parents, in which we can easy describe the concrete actions they can take to defend their children from contact with vulgar sexual content in school.
An example of an effective fight between parents and lawyers can be the parent movement in the United States. It was thanks to his treatment last week that the United States ultimate Court ruled that parents have the right to retreat children from school classes where books promoting LGBTQ+ content are used. Our actions aim to guarantee that specified success can be repeated besides in Poland!
At the same time, the conflict with the government besides continues on the second episode. Since taking office, Minister Nowack has been seeking to effectively expel catechesis from schools. Our experts have prepared a number of analyses that negatively view the changes introduced, in which we discussed in item the legal concerns related to the MEN proposals and reminded that the right to learn religion derives straight from the Constitution of Poland and the Concordate. The Constitutional Court has already stated the conflict between government and the Constitution in judgments of 27 November 2024 and 22 May 2025. The Constitutional Court plans to issue another judgement on this substance present (3 July).
We have prepared a legal opinion, in which we show that the assessment of religion must be included in the average, we have made available a model of the proposal that parents can make at school and we offer free legal assistance in the event that, despite submitting specified a request, the evaluation of religion is not included in the end-year average and this will have concrete negative effects on the child.
In consequence to Barbara Nowacka's illegal actions, we have prepared a bill that protects the place of catechesis or ethics in the education system. The day before the end of the school year, the Citizens' Committee of the Legislative Initiative "Values for the Future" submitted half a million signatures to the Sejm under the lawyers' written signatures Ordo Iuris a bill to defend the teaching of religion at school.
The conflict to defend the school, the rights of the parents and the innocence of the children has a very circumstantial impact on the full future of our Homeland, whose controls will shortly take over our children.
I think that even just what I wrote above shows how large the Ordo Iuris Institute is present – thanks to the community of our lawyers, experts, Friends and Contributors. Only we respond in specified a comprehensive way to threats to our children and the future of Homeland – in so many levels and areas in parallel, while bearing so many smaller and greater successes as proof of our effectiveness.
