The sharp diplomatic dispute between Poland and Russia reached a critical point. In consequence to subsequent acts of diversion and sabotage, the head of the MFA Radosław Sikorski decided to close the last Russian consulate in Gdańsk. The Kremlin immediately responded, speaking of "total deterioration of relations" and announcing retaliation. There are reports of derailed trains and arsons in the background.
