JAZZ WALKING THE planet – CHINA STOP

On August 29, the next JAZZ POLSK tour in China will begin. It will be attended by teams – Rafał Sarnecki Quartet, ZK Collaboration and Mateusz Gawada Trio. The teams will play 20 concerts in the largest metropolises of the mediate State. The way is organised as part of the “About the World” task and will end in December.

Rafał Sarnecki Quartet, ZK Collaboration and Mateusz Gawęda The trio will execute in China from 29 August to 10 December and will play a full of 20 concerts. The teams will visit both the largest metropolises specified as Beijing, Shenzhen and Shanghai, as well as smaller cities specified as Nanning or Xiamen. Polish musicians will execute in Blue Note clubs, Lincoln Center, Lavo, Real Live home and JZ Club as well as play at the EU Jazz period festival in Shanghai, and will host workshops for local students. The tour takes place as part of the JAZZ POLSCU task “About the World”, and its Chinese part is the continuation of the tour, which began in the spring performed by Simon De Rosa feat. Confusion task (19 April-5 May), followed by the HoTS Quintet (21 June-7 July).

From 29 August to 8 September there will be an global quartet of Rafal Sarnecki on the tour in China, which includes musicians from China (Wang Chenhuai – double bass), Colombia (Victor Bastidas – drums) and the USA (Nathaniel Gao – saxophone, Danny Zanker – double bass). The group will start the tour at Lincoln Center in Shanghai, where they will play a full of 4 concerts (30-31 August), and then execute JZ Club in Hangzhou. The formation will then go to Beijing where it will play 3 concerts at Smoke clubs (5 September), East Shore (6 September), and DeFacto (7 September). The tour will end on 8 September at Jijieshe club in Tongzhou. Sarnecki will advance tracks from the latest "A View From The Treetop" released in 2022 by Art Evolution Records as well as older compositions. This year's tour will be the 10th way of Sarnecki's squad in China.

Then, on 27 September, ZK Collaboration will debut in China, composed of Maciej Kądziela – saxophone, Roman Chaniak – bass and Adam Zagórski – drums. The band will play at 1 of the most celebrated Chinese jazz festivals – JZ Festival in Shanghai (29 September) and execute at club concerts: at the Malt home Jazz Club in Nanning (28 September), Real Live home in Xiamen (30 September and 1 October) and at the Lavo Club in Shenzhen (2 and 3 October). Musicians will besides conduct workshops on 1 October at BPop Studio in Xiamen.

This year's presentation of JAZZ POLAND in China will end the tour performed by Mateusz Gawada Trio. The formation will be performed, among others, at the Lincoln Center in Shanghai (1 December), the NUTS Live home club in Chongqing (4 December), Oak Nose Jazz Club in Chengdu (5 December) and Malt home Jazz Club in Nanning (6 December). The band consists of: Mateusz Gawęda (piano), Alan Wykrzysz (kontrabas), Grzegorz Palka (drums). The group will execute their first repertoire during the tour in China, which includes works from 2 studio albums: “Falstart” (2018) and “Overnight Tales” (2016).

Draft JAZZ IN POLAND “About the World” It is inspired by the achievements of Polish traveler Paweł Edmund Strzelecki, who was the first Pole on his own initiative to environment the world. JAZZ IN POLAND “About the World” took the form of an global tour, in which Polish jazz bands will execute on 4 continents in 3 years. The task began last May and will proceed until the end of 2025. So far, more than 100 events have been held in 18 countries with 16 teams. Concerts were held in Albania, Austria, Bangladesh, China, Croatia, India, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Canada, Macedonia, Moldova, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Taiwan, Hungary and Vietnam. Rafał Sarnecki –

jazz guitarist, composer, arranger. As 1 of the fewer Polish musicians he found himself in the United States, where he lived and created for over a decade. He starred with artists specified as Randy Brecker, Mike Stern, Ron Blake and Joe Magnarelli. From 2009 to 2019, he was a associate of the US-recognised Lucas Pino No-Net Nonet group. As a leader of his own music projects, he made 15 touring tours across Asia. He besides toured North and South America and many European countries. He recorded 5 first albums, of which 3 (Song From a fresh Place – 2008, Cat’s Dream – 2014 and A View From The Treetop – 2022) were nominated for the Frederick Award. The second album The Madman Rambles Again (2011) was distinguished by the prestigious American editorial "All About Jazz" as 1 of the 12 most interesting albums of 2011. Sarnecki graduated from fresh School University and from Queens College, fresh York. presently he lectures at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw and at the Academy of Music in Łódź.

Matthew Gawada Trio

has been in existence since 2014 and performs its first program composed of compositions of the band's leader, inspired by all genres of music, mainly jazz from the 1960s, European music and contemporary music. The words that could best describe the band's music are freshness, maturity, emotions, fun and darkness. In 2016, the trio recorded a debut album titled “Overnight Tales”, which was and is very enthusiastically received by audiences and critics (among others, received a nomination for the 2017 Fryderyki Award in the category Jazz Music – Fonographic Debut of the Year). In 2018 another album was released by the band entitled "Falstart".
